The longest lasting sandpaper I’ve used
I purchased 50 meters of 80 grit for £34 and I think this is the best value sandpaper on the market.Cost:£34 seems a lot until you realise 5m of this cost £7.80 currently. Had I purchased 10 rolls of 5 meters it would cost £78. Add to that the fact that this is one of the highest quality sandpapers and you may see it’s a good bargain.Longevity:As mentioned above this paper is extremely long lasting. I use it on walnut slabs with either a sanding block or a pam sander that’s *not* attached with hook and loop. The majority of the time I won’t burn through as long as I don’t run it along the sharp edges or corners. On the flat surface the 80 grit is like a hand plane the way it just keeps cutting and maintaining its abrasiveness.I also use this as a sculpting sandpaper as it rounds, moulds and carves nicely when used with a foam block. Like any paper you can wear through if you focus too long on a sharp edge of where the paper is folded.Uses:It’s a plane backed paper (not hook and loop) so double sided tape or a spray glue quickly turns the into flat block to sand on, or glued to a dowel or wood pole to make an 80 grit round file that cuts through hardwood easily.Even though this sandpaper is not made to be waterproof, I’ve left a roll out in the rain and it’s dried out like new due to the quality of the thick backing paper.Note:This 80 grit is extremely abrasive. I highly recommend you use the same papers in 120 grit before moving to the 240 grit as it will leave deep scratches in the wood otherwise. I’ve tried this paper and cheaper 120 grit and because it was budget paper it couldn’t abrade the scratches out. This is due to cheap paper losing its grit after only a few seconds of sanding. A budget paper can go from 120 grit to 400 grit in under a minute when used on hardwood.Overall this is the only type of sandpaper on a roll that I’d recommend. Cheap sandpaper just doesn’t last and is both a waste of money and time.***If you found this review helpful then please take the time to leave truthful, constructive reviews on items you buy here as that is how we pay it back.***
