I love writing with this pen. When you start using a new one, it may take a few lines of writing to get the ink flowing, but then it starts immediately after that. The ink flows smoothly, and you get a steady dark line with a smooth, light stroke of the pen. Another thing I like about this pen--something I haven't seen others mention--is the clip that holds it in your shirt pocket. It's firm enough that the pen won't slide around or fall out of your pocket, but it's also flexible enough that you can easily position the clip on your pocket. And the clip is attractive too. It's odd to me how very few pens have a good clip like this! I guess people take it for granted, but I have many pens that write well, but the clip is unacceptable for shirt-pocket use, which is my normal way of working in an office environment. I think this is my favorite pen!

Pens work as expected. No complaints. The color of ink is very pleasing

I bought a box of these pens on Amazon about a month ago along with a couple other types of Pilot blue-ink pens. My initial impression after using a couple of each is that the new V-ball is excellent to start. The writing quality is smooth and skip-free. This is important to me. Ink flow is crisp and appropriate. I'm a physician and my use is primarily in charting on patients. The ink allows you to write quickly and there has been no smudging thus far. However, on both of the V-ball's I've used, after about a week, the ink overflows into the cap. Not enough to get on clothing, but enough to get ink all over your hands during use. The pen still writes fine once you wipe off the excess ink from the pen tip, but it's enough to make me want to pick up another pen instead. This may be because I tend to take my pens home with me (in my coat pocket) and it's hot outside and in the car. I'm not sure. But it is an annoyance. **update March 8, 2012** After using several more of these pens, each one has had the same outcome: they write GREAT to start, then start bleeding. I suspect that this is because I carry the pens in my pocket and write throughout the day. I'm not sure if the body heat does it or if I'm sometimes putting the pens in my pocket tip-down, or what, but half-way through the box they've all done the same thing. It has gotten a little less problematic at the end of the pen's life. But you will have to clean out the end of the cap to see this. Alcohol swabs work well for this purpose. I will go through a pen in roughly 2-3 weeks usually and I have yet to make it all the way through one of these without having to throw it away due to concern over my clothing. And blue fingers become normal during use.

I know this is only a pen, and not usually worthy of a review, but these pens are awesome. Been using these pens almost exclusively for 5 years. The amount of ink in these is outstanding. They take forever to run out. I usually end up losing the pen well before it runs out of ink. These pens are tough. I forgot I had one if these pens in the pocket of my work shirt before I ran it through the washer and dryer. When I took the shirt out there was no signs that the pen leaked on the shirt. The area where the fingers grip seems to be a place where the ink likes to drip into. This only seem to happen if the pen is sitting in the hot or frozen car. Never had the containment been breached though. The only down side to these pens is if you are done writing something, you need to take the pressure off the tip or ink will continue to flow, and a blob of ink will form on the paper.
