Q: Can you mount this to nightstand which is wood without drilling holes or leaving a mess if I take it off?

I used 3M Command Strips to mount mine. They’re like velcro and removable without leaving a mess.

Q: What are the slots that hold remotes width?

the widths are 2-21/2 and 1 31/2

Q: Can it sit on a table without tipping or does it have to be mounted?

It can sit on a table but it’s flat on one side so but for mounting

Q: What is the maximum weight this will hold? I want to use it for silverware

Hello, I don't think this will stand on it's own (might tip over) but if attaching to a wall, it should be fine for your silverware. It all depends on how well you attach it to the wall as well, lol.
