Simple to use to increase the quality of your red wine
The media could not be loaded. These are cool little devices, simply hold it over your glass, make sure the air holes are not blocked by your fingers, and pour your wine through. The included strainer will catch any debris such as Cork or sediment and leave your wine nice and clear. As your wine flows through, air is pulled in through the air holes and mixed into the wine effectively aerating it and avoiding the need to decant first. You can hear and see this happening and the flow rate is quite quick, just keep an eye on the level of the wine in the unit when pouring. Once poured and you are finished give it a quick rinse and place in the holder ready for next time. These definitely improve the flavour of the wine although there may be better aeration kits out there, but these are just simple and look good on display too.The price of this item at the time of reviewing is £11.99 which is around the average price point for these items.

Nicely Presented For a Gift
I don't know how long a red wine should breathe to get oxygenated, nor how much difference it makes, but the Silk Route Home's premium wine aerator promises to fast track the process. The interior of the aerator looks like a wine glass in shape, and it has a filter at the top which should apparently help make the wine's bouquet better, conveniently it will also help catch unwanted inclusions too.The aerator is very good quality, it comes with it's own stand and a little bag to take it if you go travelling. pouring the wine is easy, just hold the aerator over the glass, and pour the wine through the filter. Don't pour too quickly to avoid spilling it, but you will see the bubbles, visually the wine looks more aerated as it goes into the glass. In all honesty I cannot be sure if the taste is better or not, I did think that it tasted a little better through this, but I only noticed what I thought was a subtle difference, there was no "Wow" moment. That being said, I think that it probably does improve the flavour; I am no wine connoisseur, but perhaps if you are then it will be more apparent to you. This does come nicely packaged and so would make a good gift for a red wine loving friend or family member, and £11.99 doesn't seem to bad a price for it.

Surprisingly superb
The media could not be loaded. I admit that I was not expecting much from this. It is well packaged in a cardboard box, the device itself a fairly solid clear plastic with a metal strainer, complete with a stand and a little drawstring carrying bag. You hold the aerator over the glass and pour the wine through the metal strainer and, as it passes through, the wine draws air through a pair of angled tubes. I was surprised both by the velocity at which the air is drawn in and by the difference this makes to the wine. It feels like a novelty compared to some more expensive decanters/aerators I own but the performance is remarkable. At less than £12 this is a bargain and would make an excellent gift for any red wine drinker.

A fun gift
An interesting idea, part of the fun of which is trying to figure out if it actually makes a difference. After opening a Baturica Gran Reserva 2015 – sounds grand, but it’s my favourite five pound Lidl red - I initially thought that I could taste a difference. Subtler aromas, smoother taste, but I quickly became less sure of myself. Five minutes later could I tell which glass had been through the aerator and which hadn’t, no I couldn’t. We had fun opening a couple of bottles over the next week with similar results. It’s an unusual little item, that fits nicely in the hand. You need to hold it and pour the wine through it and into a glass. As the wine pours through it makes a strangle slurping sound – not unlike my teenage son drinking hot tea. There’s a little stand supplied which helps to catch any drips left in the aerator. I think we’ll probably get this out again when guests come over – here have you seen one of these before, do you think it makes a difference? That sort of thing. Until then I’m afraid to say it will probably languish at the back of the drinks cabinet. Still it’s not an unreasonably priced item, and I think it will make a fun gift.

Impressive and effective
We have a favourite red wine from southern Italy and my husband and I have argued about the virtues of an aerator as opposed to a traditional approach to opening an hour before drinking, or decanting. I find timing when allowing a wine to breathe a bit tedious because I am busy cooking. Decanting has worked for me but this is completely instant. We both agreed that without letting the wine breathe in any way, using this as we pour into a glass is significant and fast. The wine is smoother and even better than ever, without having to wait or fiddle about. It is very easy to use, especially with the stand. Just hold the aerator over the glass with one hand and the bottle with the other and pour gently until you have poured enough - do allow for the slight lag if you don't want to waste wine on the table 😂. Not going to happen in our house.

Very good product quality.
This is a very good product quality. Very easy to use, straightforward. Modern and luxury look. The wine tastes a lot better, it seems it improves only by using this aerator. Compact and durable material. It is definitely a must have for wine lovers.
