Sea Doo 787 800 951 Exhaust Water Box Bellow 420260721 XP SPX GSX GTX LRV RX

On a 1997 Sea Doo Challenger, same engine as an XP PWC.Seemed to be stiffer than the original, and did not function the same. I was getting almost no flow at idle it open throttle, which burned up the coupler hose. The pipe got to 538°! The paint was starting to smoke! I had to back out the valve screw in the water valve 5 turns in order to tune the flow to 0.4 gpm at full throttle, which I measured by installing a $29 Amazon-sold 0.1-1.0 gpm flowmeter between the water valve and the tuned exhaust cone. Loctite now keeps that valve screw in place 5 turns out from seated.It is possible that my water valve had other issues, but it works great now. 0.4 gpm at full throttle, just under 0.1 gpm at idle. Pipe doesn't get above 150° now, measured with an infrared thermometer, and by laying my hand on it for a few seconds.

So far so good after a season. But it was not like the original.
