I grew up on this movie and it's so fun! Surprise cameos/actors is great as they have bright futures for their acting careers!

Excellent Movie!
Excellent movie, a great 80s classic that you don't see much of on streaming or broadcast TV anymore. Elizabeth Shue is awesome, one of her best movies.

Adventures in Babysitting
Hard to believe that this film came out in 1987. About 34 years ago from the time I am posting this review. Because this movie is a classic, they made this anniversary edition for 25 years. I purchased it on Blu-Ray because having watched it on HBO when it came on TV, I don’t prefer the Disney+ version as it removed too many parts and subs over the characters voices. This version I am more familiar with.First of all, I love the cover. 80s movies always had cool posters that look like they were comic book motif. Sometimes the posters made the movie look more exciting that it was or just added onto the film. In this case, every time I see the cover, I have a sense of Nostalgia and delight knowing how cool this movie is. It also makes me imagine what this movie would be like as a comic book or graphic novel. (Hey, it’d be something I’d read! Look at how cool the cover and logo are!)The movie is distributed by Touchstone, meaning it’s technically a Disney film. So that means no Disc to Digital conversion. The disc will play on video game systems like the PS5 and Xbox Series X.When you load the disc, you will get a ton of Disney trailers, then you will get to the main menu. The main menu is the same poster as the cover, but without a logo. The music that plays is “Babysitting Blues” but without lyrics. There are no bonus features on this disc. There are multiple languages: English, Spanish and French. The good news is the languages are fully recorded without speaking over the original English track, which does get on my nerves normally. The subtitles are English, French and Spanish as well. The other features are the “Sneak Peeks” option, which shows the Disney trailers you saw before when you loaded up the disc. Nothing special. Finally, there’s the info button. Which should not have been an option. The reason being is that it just displays the message that says: “The commentaries and interviews on this disc are for entertainment purposes only….”The Pop-up menu just shows “Continue” and “Menus”. So if you want to add subtitles or change the language during the film, that won’t be possible. You will need to go back to the main menu.Overall, the quality is great and definitely worth having in your collection. I do wish there was sort of like an anniversary exclusive bonus feature where the original cast re-unites and talks about the film, but I guess that wasn’t made right? With this price as well, you can’t go wrong!

Great Escapist Fun
This is a little hidden gem of a movie. It starts with a wonderful opening scene of Elisabeth Shue's character dancing in her bedroom to the Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me" as she dresses for her date. Very memorable, very romantic, and so well done that you almost feel guilty for peeping into a young girl's boudoir! There is no nudity in this scene or at any other point in the movie, BTW. Elisabeth is the ultimate Girl Next Door, winsome, funny, and very beautiful, and she carries the movie very well. Without giving too much of the plot away, the "adventures" of the title are as a whole quite hilarious. The situations that the cast finds themselves in are all over-the-top and often ridiculous, but in a very amusing way. Along the way, look for a great turn by a young Vincent D'Onofrio, long before his 'Criminal Intent' role, and almost unrecognizable. The supporting cast of child actors are all very well cast, and help to add to the general humorous, warm tone that the movie sets. Penelope Ann Miller, a wonderful actress, is cast in a rather one-dimensional role as Elisabeth's friend in trouble, but she is VERY funny in it, and, in keeping with the general tone of the movie, hilariously over the top. See her in 'Awakenings' for a much better showcase for her talents. There are some memorable secondary characters along the way as well. All in all, a very funny, warm flick, suitable for family night or even as a date movie, and one with good replay value, as the cast is so likable and funny, and the situations they find themselves in so outrageously funny. The only real caveat is that for no good reason in a family movie, some bad language is used here and there, so if you are thinking of watching this with small children, you might want to screen it first.
