Always wanted a metal detector anyway... Had noticed that one sprinkler head failed to come up when the system ran. No good map of the system, as is very common. Kind of knew where it was but could not find it just poking in the ground. Measured between two others on the zone and knew it should be somewhere. Bought this detector and was able to find the head. The stainless spring in the head is what the detector found. Some irrig heads have brass nozzles on top. Those would be easier to find since the brass has more density and is closer to the surface.Now the fun part: the detector has different tones and capabilities to detect several different types of metal. Some types of metal can be 'turned off' as you search. Steel/iron tone is low and silver is highest, with a few between. The display also indicates the approximate type of metal. Detector really gets excited with silver coins. Learned how it works by spreading a nail, penny, dime, quarter, old sprinkler head, etc., on driveway. Held the detector ring about 12" above them while walking by. Got to know the different sounds and displays. There is a lot of metal in my yard! Checked the edge of the driveway and front walk. Seems that in the sixty years this house has been here, people have dropped coins on a regular basis. Dug up an old-style beer tab while looking for the sprinkler head, though. Want to take it to local beach if I can. Many cities/counties have restrictions on searching public property, so check before you head out.

Built well, instructions a bit confusing to translate sensor

I bought this for my lady on Christmas. The deal was outstanding! Almost half off the original price and well worth it. It detects very well and comes with tools such as a shovel to help your journey. A kid could assemble this detector. You can adjust for height of different people. Very good beginner detector as well as serious detectors. Tested on multiple items and it never failed. Screen is perfect in size. Comes with headphones. Only thing I had to purchase separate was the pinpoint detector. Which I found on Amazon for a great price. Also has a carrying case. I love this device but most importantly my lady loves it. Item arrived on time and everything works great. I’d highly recommend people jump on this deal. I paid just over $100 for a $200 item. Jump on this if it’s still on sale. Also forgot to add the strap for your arm. It lessons the strain on your arm while using. We can’t wait until spring. Thank you Amazon for offering such a great deal in these hard times. I wish my video I took of her opening this gift was smaller so you could see the look on her face when she opened it.

I used it the first day after assembling. I went out into the yard and it accurately detected pieces of metal in places I didnt know existed. So far, so good.
