It's just what I wanted! Only down side is I wish they had more jerky trays. I only wanted to use it to make jerky but with only one tray that's not feasible. I did try some apples in it and they were great!

This is a nice dehydrator but it does not circulate the air evenly. You have to rotate the trays often - and that slows down the drying process.The fan is on the bottom of the unit. The trays have a 4" hole in the center, to allow air flow. Problem is with 10 trays the bottom tray and top tray dry completely- while the other 8 trays dry at different rates depending on where the item is on that tray.I had dog treats in. Small 1" pieces, the center 6 trays were still very wet after 12 hours.When I did sweet potato slices - the center trays stayed so wet that they began to mold - @ 158° it took over 28 hours! I par bake the potatoes first - so I had to throw out almost 4 whole potatoes due to mold - a potatoes per tray (I cut the 1/4 thick to give our Labs something chewy) my other dehydrator it takes 16 hours to dry the slices but they do not mold!This is alright for some things but I do not believe it can handle a "full" load on all 10 trays at the same time.

I bought this to mainly dry fruit and veggies. I have a smaller dehydrator but could only fill it with 4 sliced apples. This dehydrator can hold 7 sliced apples, to give you a better idea of its size. It's wonderfully quiet and looks beautiful on my table. I have my first batch drying now, so far everything looks good.After making 2 batches of apples i found that this dehydrator needs at least 12 hrs at the highest temp to dry them to the crispiness my family likes. My smaller dehydrator only takes 6 hrs. But the apples do have a stronger apple flavor than they did with the quicker dehydrator. I'm still happy with this dehydrator. I have also been rotating the shelves at the 6 hr mark. The top and bottom tend to dry quicker than the middle shelves.

Dehydrators sure have come a long way. I remember when I was young, my mom's dehydrator would leave the foods a little chewy and they were always uneven.That is NOT an issue with the Gourmia. The first thing I noticed while taking it out of the box was that it seemed to be a nice, sturdy, structurally made machine. The door has magnets that hold it steady and the plastic trays inside are great because it's one whole piece. The trays were very simple to slide in and out of the dehydrator and easy to wash afterward.I really like that the dehydrator is digitally controlled with 8 preset temperatures that seem to cover every setting anyone would need. The only thing I didn't like was the annoying beep that it makes every time you touch the button to set it, but I'm still hoping to find a way to adjust that in the manual. That being said, it is very easy to put on the setting you want and doesn't take any previous dehydrating experience to use.I tried some fruit first because that's what I had on hand. My kids loved the grapes and apples; they were evenly dehydrated and the texture was just right. I'm looking forward to testing out more and more foods in this machine!

This item is perfect for either giving as a gift or you could make things in it to gift! Everything from Jerky to dried fruit. If you want dried fruit at a cheaper price and you can control the ingredients, this is perfect! I am so excited to make Jerky without all of those harmful ingredients that come in the Jerky from the store!!! I am big on staying natural and having a say in my ingredients and this is perfect!

The unit was delivered with fingerprints all over it the top was scratched and the unit and door were both dirty because it was USED and not NEW as ADVERTISED

When using for the first time, I found the "Buttons" on the control panel to be difficult to use, however, I discovered that a quick, light touch works very well instead of pressing them. My first item, which is exactly why I purchased this, was sweet potato jerky/chips for my dogs. I realized I have been paying $17.00 per pound in stores for sweet potatoes I can buy for 79 cents. This will pay for itself in no time. I will of course use it for other things, but my first batch came out great.

Serious preppers may want something more commercial grade but this is a great product for the casual user. Looks great.
