TRY IT. YOU'LL LIKE IT.
I seldom post reviews of products on Amazon (and I buy A LOT from Amazon) but for this product I have to make the exception. My wife & I cut the cable cord about a year ago and have been streaming everything and when Aereo arrived on the scene we jumped right on it. Thought our cable days were over for ever. When the Supreme Court put Aereo out of business last week the horrible thought occurred to me that I might have to go back to cable (God forbid). I thought about indoor antennae but didn't think it would work. I live on the upper east side of Manhattan (Yorkville) on the 11th floor. My apartment is on the north east corner of the building and faces east. I'm surrounded by high rise buildings including a 40 story one directly across the street to the south which completely blocks the view to the south (and the Empire State Building from whence just about every OTA TV signal originates). I figured there is no way I going to get any kind of decent signal through all this concrete and steel. Hell, I had to buy a WiFi booster just so I could get a decent WiFi signal in my living room because the router was in another room. So I started to research indoor HD antennae. The price range is absurd, anywhere from $6.00 to $100.00 or more. The reviews for this product on Amazon and other places seemed promising but I slightly gagged on the price. But I thought: a hundred dollars is still a whole lot less than a never ending cable bill. I bought it with the thought that if it didn't work out I'd return it and eat the the re-stocking fee (if any) and the return shipping costs. Needless to say the item arrived lickety split as always from Amazon on Monday. Yesterday I hooked it up. Let me just say that hook up is quite easy with one or two provisos. The coaxial cable that comes with the unit has typical screw on/off ends. MY TV (Samsung) has a RCA type plug for the antennae in. Fortunately I saved all the cables & adapters that came with the TV (quite a few) and sure as hell there was the adapter to covert the screw on end into an RCA type plug in end. So check the back of your TV to see what type you have, screw in or RCA plug in. It's liable to save you some aggravation. The instructions tell you to then scan for existing channels. I hope you saved the manual that came with your TV cause you're gonna need it. After about a half hour of looking through my TV manual, I finally found the tiny paragraph that barely explains how to scan for channels. That being said I started the scan (takes a couple minutes) and low and behold it came back with about 58 channels. Let me say here that unless you're blessed with ability to speak multiple languages including Spanish, Chinese, Korean and others many of these channels will be useless to you. HOWEVER, the ones your are looking for (CBS, NBC, ABC, WOR, NET) are all there and the reception is SPECTACULAR. I cannot express how stunned I was. I stood there in front of my tv with my mouth opened. The picture was better than anything we previously got through cable. Here's why: I learned that the cable companies have to compress the signal before they send the signal over their wires. OTA broadcasts are not compressed; so, you get a truly high definition picture. The difference is amazing. If I can get this kind of signal where I live (surrounded by concrete and steel with no view of the south) then unless you live in a bank vault in a basement, I don't see how you couldn't do as well or better if you live in Manhattan. Cannot give this thing enough stars. Yeah, it's one of the most expensive ones out there but think of it in comparison to your monthly cable bill. No contest! (One sad note: I got to watch the USA loose to Belgium on channel 41 [Univision]. Yeah, it was in Spanish which I don't speak, but it was the World Cup and IT WAS FOR FREE!)

A great HDTV antenna.
I've had very good luck with this HDTV antenna. I first got this back in Dec. 2014 ($99), and I bought another in June of 2015 ($79), because of how well this works. One for the living room, one for the bedroom. What I had before was a cheap $30 RCA antenna. Around 50 miles west of Chicago, I get so many stations. Although, truth be told, a few stations are repeated on a few channels. So the overall numbers can be misleading. But for sure, I did pick up more stations than that cheap RCA antenna. For some reason, CBS was always a problem. Not any more. A gentleman I work with, who has cut his cable too, bought one on my recommendation. Not having cable for more than 4 years now, and I really don't miss it. At the time of this review, I see the price has come down to ($69.50). I might just buy a third one. By the way, made in the USA, so that is great.

Beware the max is 50 miles
I bought the 60 mile option, but when you read the details and the box it states max 50 miles, which is the true distance. It was very easy to install (I hung in attic and plugged into my existing cable line). I received HD channels up to 49 miles away (FOX was around that distance), and I thought why doesn't everyone do this! However, you quickly learn that bad weather conditions or other interference will disrupt your connection... so you can't always count on it. For reference I found that CBS is the major network with the strongest signal (even though NBC was actually closer), it was the only one that had perfect reception no matter where the antenna was in the house. NBC & FOX were only picked up when it is in the attic, and ABC I didn't bother with because I already knew it was too far from me and I hear it has the most difficult reception. This is based on East of Orlando.

Disappointing performance.
I got this for my Dad's apartment which is downstairs and surrounded by obstacles, hoping that it would improve his reception. A co-worker who lives in a tall apartment building recommended this to me stating that he had really good results. In this location the antenna, which is advertised as a 60 mile antenna, didn't pull in channels any better than the old Mohu Leaf antenna it was meant to replace. After trying multiple locations in the apartment I ended up returning the antenna for a refund, but was charged a $15 restocking fee. Keep this in mind if you plan on trying this antenna. This may work well for you, but it definitely didn't work well in this situation.

Works VERY well in sub-optimal conditions. Very pleased.
It's been about 7 months since I got this and I wanted to wait to give a good review. But wow, this thing is great. I live on the base of a pretty big / wooded hill and on the other side of this hill are my cities towers. I was really concerned that this would cause me to not get a good signal. My towers are pretty much directly east and another set of towers are just north of east. So having one antenna that's able to get signal on all towers is tough. But this thing works well. I did get an antenna amplifier to help. Without it I got about 15 channels, with I get around 38.Also, I constructed a small tower to raise the antenna about 10 feet off the ground. The base of the antenna connects to the tower through 2 U-Bolts and is very sturdy. The make of this antenna is solid. The box it arrived in was all beat to hell and as a result the antenna had a slight warp. Some gentle coaxing with a precision instrument (hammer) proved to solve the problem. So, what are you waiting for, cut the cable package full of crap you don't watch and get this thing!!!

Almost returned it, but I found the trick
I dumped big cable to go back to over the air channels. I even put a TV card in my computer to act as a 4 tuner PVR - USING THIS ANTENNA!It works amazingly well.At first I had a heck of a time getting it to work properly and I tried to return it, but I did 2 things that changed everything.1 - First, I placed it as high as possible in a window facing south (on the second floor so about 20 feet). I live in Montreal so I have to point it at the US stations located in Platsburgh and surrounding areas.2 - I bought a booster. The antenna works quite well on it's own but given the distance from antenna to TVs I had to boost it with an RCA TVPRAMP1R Outdoor Antenna Preamplifier.I now get CBS ad 2 of it's sub channels (MOVIES and ION). NBC and one of it's sub channels. CW comes in PERFECTLY CLEAR. Of course I get CTV and other Canadian Channels. All in all I get about 24 channels.I record my TV programs on my computer PVR all over the air and it is flawless. The money I spent on the equipment equates to about 6 months of cable service. After which I pay no more, so I am very happy I kept this antenna.

I'm using this antenna indoors in an upper floor condo ...
I'm using this antenna indoors in an upper floor condo in an outer fringe area with a 10db amplifier. I consistently receive 6 of the 8 available channels. Two channels are received about 25-30% of the time. All 8 channels are broadcast from a very narrow arc along the long axis of my building so there are four apartments (about 14 walls) between the antenna and a clear line of sight. Distance to the various broadcast towers range between 40 and 60 km. Using a 20 year old set of rabbit ears with the same 10db amplifier at the same location I could cosistently receive 3 channels.I have tested this antenna from my balcony where I have a clear line of sight and all channels are consistently received. Unfortunately I an unable to permanently install the antenna outdoors.
