Muddy Pro 20-Inch Aluminum Climbing Stick with Built-in Teeth and Aluminum Bark Biters for Crooked or Straight Trees (4-Pack)

As far as simple and fast climbing sticks, I don't know that you can get in a tree much faster and easier than you can with these sticks. They are up in 5 minutes. Platform takes another 5-10 and then situating your straps and safety straps another 2. Only weakness will be if your tree is a little crooked. Then you can carry an extra buckle to wrap on the bottom of a stick to keep it from kicking out on you. They bite in really well so not usually an issue.

These sticks bought 5/23 are a much quality than years past. This is my forth set I have bought in the last ten plus years and the fit of parts are much better, especially the step assembly to the stick. In years past that fit was not very good and no matter how you tightened them they would rock a bit from side to side. On this set the fit was so tight I had to lightly sand the paint at the connection to fit, to me that’s a good thing. Another tip is to tap in an Allen wrench into the step bolt holes to adjust, the holes was a tight fit. I have had a lot of sticks and these are by far the quietest and easiest sticks to use, I just wish they were sold in a five or six pack. I have had them in the past that the tube to step bracket was not tight, I would disassemble them and put Gorilla Steel Epoxy on the bracket where it touches the tube and let that cure. Done properly it will provide a tight fit.

Finally got to use these sticks, amazing absolutely love the design easy to attach to tree, makes mobile hunting quick and easy. only negative I have is slightly heavy.

Been great so far. I like the rope and the cam lock system to hold the rope in place. Much easier than the small rope, over under, around wrapping method. They are not the lightest but I'm not hiking in miles or anything so they work for me. The only thing I don't like is that the steps rock a little bit. They don't sit firm against the main tube so they have a little slack. It makes you feel a little uneasy until you get used to it. I might try improve it.

Easy to load into my pack, super fast to instal, love them! I had to make a stand move in a hurry one night while bow hunting. I was able to pull my stand and steps in a matter of minutes. I moved it and killed my deer the next morning!! Perfect and convenient.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, in November of 2021 I ordered and received what I believe to be a set of the sticks that were recalled in 2012. They match the description from the consumer product safety commission recall for "Muddy outdoors tree climbing sticks". The ones I received have the burnt orange & black rope and the single post tree cleat. Additionally, they DO NOT feel safe while climbing. Even after following the directions and verifying that the tree cleats and steps were bolted together properly, every single step shifts (pivots) a small amount during use, which not only makes an extremely loud popping noise, it is clearly a design and safety issue. This is a shame because I had another set of older muddy climbing sticks (before they were named "pro") and they do not match the recall and were quiet and worked rather well for budget sticks. The company has become another bad quality, unsafe Chinese brand and I would not trust them with any manufactured climbing equipment anymore. Bottom line, do not buy these unless you want to gamble with your health and life.

October 2022: I’m still undecided if these are the recalled version or not? The recall notice was for roughly 1500 sticks sold in 2012 which contained a single bar on the stand-off with a burnt orange / black rope. The recalled versions were model numbers “ 70401 and 70404”. The set I received were brand new in the sealed box. They are black in color ( not brown like recalled versions). They have the single post on the stand off and a burnt orange / black rope but the model number on both the sticks and box is “ MCS2000-4”. They are require some assembly but are very sturdy. I ordered a second pair directly from Muddy’s website the same day. I will compare the two sets and update this review when I receive the second set from Muddy directly. Update October 11,2022 I ordered a set of sticks directly from Muddy’s website and they sent the exact same sticks with the same model number as the ones I received from Amazon. The sticks I received from Amazon are to good sticks, not the recalled sticks as other reviews have stated.

Good sticks when used with an aider attached to the bottom. The bolts all needed to be tightened though.
