Second Choice works great
I needed to replace the DVD Rom drive on my old computer. This DVD Rom wasn't my original choice but I'm very happy with the product. It works great and I've had no issues. I'm very happy with the product.

A functional drive, but getting old
I have never had a problem with this product, although it is getting old now. Probably purchasing a newer drive would be better, but this is a good drive for a good price.

Great Product
It was extremely easy to install. It came with everything that was needed for the installation. Windows 2000 recognized the drive immediately. The only flaw I found is the software that the was bundled with. WIN DVD did not allow the drive play DVD's propertly. Power DVD works great with the drive and I recommned purchasing it for this product.

Stay away from this one if you own a Dell 4550 Desktop
I consider myself Windows XP saavy. I tried to upgrade/replace my existing Samsung CD-ROM drive with this DVD-ROM Drive. Despite all my efforts (fiddling with Cable Select (CS) jumpers, changing CS to Master, changing out the IDE Cable to a non-cable select cable), this DVD-ROM drive simply would not work. I even checked out the BIOS of the Dell 4550 Desktop to ensure the drive was enabled and set to "auto". As soon as I purchased another DVD-ROM drive (BTC Brand) it worked.. out of the box...

cheap but not always functional
I've had this DVD drive for a year and a half now, and it does work most of the time (albeit with a terribly loud whirring noise that sometimes detracts from the movie) but I've found that it cannot detect some DVDs. They are perfectly legit home videos that work in other DVD-ROMs, but not in this one. So every once in a while I have to borrow someone else's DVD player just to watch a movie, which is a nuisance. It will probably be a better deal to buy a more expensive DVD-ROM drive that runs quietly and actually works all the time.

Good for the money!
This item has been installed in a yet to be "burned in" new computer. Installed well and seems to be okay with XP.

Excellent product
This product is truly great. I mean all I had to do was hook it up and I had win xp which made things so easy. I was practically up and running in under 15 minutes!! I totally recommend it since it is the best buy for your money. Enjoy!!!

Better than expected
Replaced my old CD-ROM. The DVD, VCD play very well. The quality of the picture is nice. The drive is very easy to install. Amazon's delivery is also pretty fast even using the free shipping. RECOMMANDED.
