Lateral Thinking: Creativity Step by Step Paperback – Illustrated, 30 Sept. 1973

This is another great book by De Bono. This book will make you think. It will turn on your ability to construct new ideas and teach you new pathways to solving problems of any nature. It gets more complex as the book progresses which is why i recommend you take your time with it and read and absorb each chapter at a time as and when you feel comfortable. This is not a "read it as quickly as you can" type book. The content is designed to rearrange your thinking processes and I think it does an excellent job of achieving that. I would highly recommend this old time classic. Just remember to be patient with it and let the new concepts sink in over time. A Great book which I highly recommend.

Do no try to 'read' this book it might not work. I found that by breaking it down and taking on a chapter at a time I could really concentrate and take it in. The following few days would then be spent using/trying techniques as laid out. It worked for me. Some regard this book as geared more towards teaching, but I found it very useful and am using it daily now especially at work with my team.

Lateral thinking isn't something which is usually discussed, not in secondary education or anywhere that I've noticed to be honest. I was glad to come across this book when I did. There are so many useful exercises to help you develop lateral thinking habits, which help to improve general creativity. :).I've always had more of a lateral mind so learning how to utilize my natural strengths has been a Godsend.

I read the first edition when it came out and wanted to read it again, only to discover that i no longer had it. so i ordered this one and it has even surpassed my espectations. De Bono really sets your mind in motion!

Could have printed well. Difficult to read

A great fascinating read.High quality paperback.

I first read this book 51years ago.While I didn't use all the lessons in proposed,the technique and lessons it did impart served me well as a young person. I'm sure it could do the same for anyone in any era.What I learned: We go along with our well ordered lives, but we're not really challenged in certain ways.One may think, "this is me, and I'm not going to change for anyone." Thereby limiting ourselves seriously.After reading this book my life was dramatically changed to the extent that my previous ' set in concrete persona was challenged.That's when my lessons from this book had to be accessed. Instead of fearing the oncoming challenges I was able to embrace them with a realisation that I could take them on with more openness and sense of challenge rather that my sense of fear and apprehension making me immobile and incapable.

This book is extremely stimulating and in my opinion useful. I always seem to get “stuck” when trying to generate ideas and this book certainly helps one become unstuck.
