Cutting blade could be better. If your bagel is nice and soft, who wants a hard bagel, it gets mashed somewhat. Revised: I guess I was using it incorrectly! If you push the blade down SLOWLY it doesn't mash or tear the bagel. Did that this morning and got a perfect cut. Raised my review to 5 stars.

The Bagelpod Red Black looks attractive and interesting on the counter. It has performed almost perfectly, but on a few bagels it tended to scrunch the bagel and not do a clean cut. I think this was due to the soft dough consistency of certain bagels where they weren't crisp enough or were a little sticky. All in all, I count on the machine to give me perfect cuts every time with no worry as to safety.

Bought this after slicing my finger. It's easy; it works and above all - safe. $40 is a lot less than an ER copay so I recommend this gadget.

As with all bagel slicers I have tried, the bagels cannot be too fresh or they get smashed up. Once the bagels are a little stale, be sure to put it in the inside circle so that the bagel is sliced evenly. Works great. I love the fact that I can put it in the dishwasher (top shelf). The design is fun.

In thought this is a great item; however, the results are anything but satisfactory. Instead of cutting the item inside, the blades squish and squeeze the bagel into an unrecognizable bread ball. If the blades were sharper and actually cut the item it is supposed to cut, this review would be different.

It looks nice, but is not very useful. If your bagel is not the exact thickness it was designed for, you get a bagel of two very different-sized halves. In my case, one was 3/4 and the other “half” was 1/4. I could have gotten the same effect on my own if that’s what I wanted. Needless to say, that wasn’t my goal.

It is so easy to use and perfectly cuts the bagels each and every time!

Work perfectly was everything we needed. So incredibly simple to use and then… the blades got dull and the bagels got mushed. And the final straw was the ball on the handle fell off. Argh, that’s a bummer
