Absolute RLS125 12-VCD Automotive Relay SPDT 30/40A

bought both the high and low tone horns, and a relay. With the 2 brackets included I formed a V-shaped bracket that tied everything together in single package, including the relay, which was then super easy to install on my Vanagon. I ran the ground terminals from the horns to the brackets and thus the vehicle frame. A hot wire of adequate gauge already ran to the old horn, and the other wire went back to the wheel and to ground when the panel on the wheel is depressed. So, I ran the hot wire to the relay, and the grounding wire from the wheel to the terminal on the relay that activates the internal switch to close. The same hot wire runs to one terminal of the normally open switch of the relay, and the other terminal is connected the hot terminals of the horns. So, without adding any new wires, I was able to hook up two horns and a relay, and they work great! Very loud, nice harmonic 2 tone sound, and after 14 years without a working horn, I now drive around hoping someone will be rude. :o)

I added some auxiliary lights to my KLR 650, and had originally installed a toggle switch. However, I went to a park during the day and turned the lights on for extra visibility on the freeway. However, I forgot to turn the switch OFF and ran the battery down. Oops. So, I got this simple 12 volt relay to have the lights turn OFF whenever the ignition switch is OFF. I simply found a key-switchable wire in the wiring harness to the left side of the handlebars, and used insulation displacement connectors to connect the coil of this relay (the relay pulls less than 200 milliamps, so power consumption is low). Then, I connected the relay contacts in series with the auxiliary light toggle switch. This way, I can start the bike with the auxiliary lights OFF, turn the aux lights on, and if I forget again the battery won't be discharged again.

These can be disassembled with a fingernail to see the guts, and it is easy to see that the main contacts inside neither align very well nor have much surface area to pass the current.I used them on my Headlight harness. They have not seen much use, and they have not failed, but I have little confidence in them. Thankfully when relay's fail they usually fail with welded contacts, so at least the headlamps would not go out on a dark night. But my sealed headlamps are 6054's which have both high and low beams inside. If the high beam relay failed and stayed connected while the low beam was activated or Vis a versa, it would likely fry the headlamp, requiring replacement of the lamp at an inopportune time.These relays only have one switched output terminal(87). Some relays have two which would make wiring some projects easier. Anyway do your research. I am looking for a higher quality relay to plug into my headlamp harness.These do the job, but for how long, even at a fraction of their rating, is the question, and safety of myself and others could be at stake. Other products by this company, specifically a 140 amp circuit breaker I have, do not fill me with confidence as to their build quality or functionality.

I bought this to replace the relay that came with a set of low-cost, Chinese-made car/motorcycle horns. The horns worked great--the relay did not work at all.I chose this "Absolute" brand relay to replace the dead one because it had exactly the same outer design and dimensions. But, oh, what a difference inside! The new relay is a hefty piece, weighing about 4 times as much as the original device. I bench tested the new relay first. It made a satisfyingly solid click as the terminals were energized and contact was made inside the switch. I installed it on my bike and it worked perfectly.If it dies prematurely, I'll update this review. But for now, 5 stars, easy.

I thought I needed this to use LED lights but found it is NOT needed

12 VDC Automotive Relay SPDT 30/40A works great for my units. I have purchased over a 100 of these and looking to buy more as long as the cost stays good.The unit I sale works in between being in the hot and cold all year round. And the 12 VDC Automotive Relay SPDT 30/40A has not let me down at all.I love having 30A to 40A pole inside the relay because, My unit only goes up to about 10A to 25A when on.The input voltage to turn the 12 VDC Automotive Relay on can be as low as 6 to 8 volts I have tested. THIS IS NOT NEEDED IF YOU ARE BUYING PUSH BUTTON HORN KIT. WISH I HAD KNOWN THAT. THE HORN KIT INCLUDES THIS RELAY. It was suggested as something others bought along with the horn and the button kit, BUT THE BUTTON KIT ALREADY COMES WITH A RELAY SO I BOUGHT THIS FOR NO REASON. Well, I guess as a backup relay to have on hand, but in hindsight, wasted money and unnecessary item when buying a horn button installation kit.

Shipped fast. But, the relays are not packaged as advertised. They came in plain white boxes and there are absolutely no markings on the relay itself. There were 2 relays delivered. I was only expecting 1.The pin configuration is correct. I have not connected this relay to my motorcycle horn yet so I cannot speak for its quality. I can only hope it’s better than the one that came with the Stebel Nautilus Airhorn that failed after only 2 months.

Works great, we used this to replace the ASD Relay on a 1988 Dodge Daytona.

Fairly standard DPST relay, no issues quality wise and has functioned properly thus far.
