Like inverse Russian stacking dolls, each story widens and enlarges our understanding of what is possible with language and life. I’m under this author’s spell. You will be, too.

I read this collection in one sitting. A tiny little book that is full of emotion and imagery. It's poetic prose, it's daring. I highly recommend it. I wanted more! Excellent book.

I loved this collection. It's tender, beautifully written, and brimming with imagination. Pappas does some really cool things with form, too. Standouts include: "Nature," "Going to Market," "Tending the Elephant," "Hunger," "The View from Here," and "Homework."
