This is not true rag museum board...
Although that is implied by the use of the word "conservation".The description says that it is made of purified wood pulp. Strictly speaking, it should be labeled as buffered non-acid paper. True musem board is not made from wood pulp and does not tend to lower its pH, or acidify, with age. Advertising it as true museum board is misleading. This paper is buffered with calcium carbonate to neutralize its natural tendency to acidify. That is not necessary with true museum board. Also, all the alkalizing additives in it may be partially responsible for its inability to produce a clean mat cut. Even a brand new blade tends to drag on it and the cuts look anything but clean. I also doubt the value of a 2-ply mat as a cut top mount, unless it is being coupled with a full thickness 4-ply mat cut in a slightly larger size. Its greatest value may be in serving as an extremely low acid backing board for the mounted artwork. However, I have my doubts that it will stay that way for more than 15 years. True rag based musem board would last 25-30 years, or longer. For my purposes, it is ideal. I use it as a backing board to mount the background artwork for anime cels. They are mounted on 4 ply white matboard cut slightly larger than a normal opening for 8 x 10 art and thus separated from the backdrop that is mounted behind them on this board. Some cels have heavyweight watercolor backgrounds, or thinner laser printed copies of the original watercolors. For those, I will use a full weight 4-ply backing board. For the thicker foam backgrounds that I need to use when the originals are not available, I use acid free colored foam sheets. These would make the entire assembly too thick if I used 4-ply. These thinner sheets are ideal. They are absolutely perfect for use with thick backgrounds. With a buffered white core mat on top, the whole setup should be preserved for 20+ years before any of the components need to be replaced. For that purpose, this backing board should be ideal. Just be aware that it may not make the best front mat because of its thinness and the difficulty of cutting it cleanly.

Pretty good mat boards
Pretty good mat boards. The corners came a bit bent from the shipping though, I'd suggest store-bought if you were really bugged by this, it's pretty unavoidable though.

Okay product
It’s a little short of 11 inches and has a yellow tint to it. Some edges were a bit squished but for me the yellowish tint to it was a major disappointment.

Great mat board!
If you are matting photos or artwork, you need a bevel cut mat, and then you also need this behind it. This is really a great product. Archival quality, which means it will stay white, and will not yellow, or cause your photo to deteriorate over time.Great product, and a great price.

It is what it is, but it isn't great.
I can't really be negative about the fact that I think 2 ply is just too flimsy; I prefer 4 ply, but that's just a preference. However, if you're looking for a "white" mat board, don't buy this. It has quite a lot of yellow cast to it. If you like a yellowish mat board, this might be good for you; I don't. In my opinion, they shouldn't call it "white" at all. To me, "pearl" implies a sheen, not a yellow color, but apparently the folks at Archival Methods think Pearl means yellow.
