Better than expected.
Better than I expected it would be for the price. The gray scale etching is pretty impressive when you get the settings worked out. The stepper motors are pretty loud and since it etches like a printer, line by line instead of following vertex lines like a cnc, it is pretty slow. None the less, it is great for something to play with. It will make awesome tags on card stock for presents and it does an impressive job on wood. It comes with some cheap glasses for eye protection, but I recommend putting up some guards on the machine since the light can damage your eyes if any stray beams reflect out.The original laser head went out after 4 or 5 etches which was a bummer. I contacted the seller and they emailed me back in a few hours(on a Saturday morning) offering some things to try. When that didn't work they sent me a new laser head and I got it on Monday. I've done about a dozen etches so far with the new laser head with no issues.

Good for its intended purpose.
I teach remedial courses at the junior high school level. I purchased this laser engraver as a tool for teaching basic science concepts (like the interaction of matter and energy). It's a great tool for that. It's also a pretty good little engraver. A little experimenting with burn times allows engraving a variety of materials, and it has pretty good repeatability. An added bonus is lack of arguments over which pencil belongs to whom. Stencil and Lucida Sans Unicode fonts work well. The software is a bit clunky, but does the job well enough considering the price. Manual focus is pretty useful, both in allowing for engraving of materials of different thicknesses and letting me teach why we have seasons in a very concrete way. As the frame is steel, a few magnets and some translucent plastic sheets make great shields.

Lot of Fun to use
It's a fun little machine to play with.. I use it to make Tags and stuff for Grandkids. The software is a little buggy and really needs someone who knows English to edit it. But, it's easy enough to figure out and you can be engraving something soon after getting it. I recommend buying some blank wood tags to go with it, as wood is the easiest and cheap material to engrave.. Have Fun!

Great Hobby Engraver
Great little engraver, easy to setup and use within 5 minutes. I burn my laser out by not heeding the 20 minutes of use and break period. I contacted customer support and a replacement was provided quickly without return of the damaged laser unit. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Highly recommended seller and product
Very good product at a great price. Don't waste your time with some of the international discount sellers who require 60 days to ship and offer no customer service. The seller of this product followed up with me directly to provide usage instructions and hints the improve the experience. This is the 2nd unit I've purchased from LifBetter.Highly recommend

Poor laser life...way less than advertised.
Great idea for doing your own scribes. Taking care of use time and such, the laser just doesn't last long. Way less time than is advertised. Sorry, I don't have exact time at this point but we did only 15 scribes over a long period of time. One inch round diameter wood. Medium detail. They need to improve the laser and really prove it can last before I'd venture down this path again.

Pretty darn fun
So far so good had it a week now and It was fairly intuitive to set up screws came loose on the laser head after hours of use but that was likely my fault perhaps use thread lock when installing (it comes in a bag for shipment
