101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster - Great Resource
Great book with lots of information not availble elsewhere.I have a pretty decent workshop and have always worked on my own cars (I own & restored several vintage cars and motorcycles). When I began considering the purchase of my 2005 Boxster I was somewhat apprehensive due to the lack of information available outside the official Porsche channel. The thought of being at the mercy of my local dealer sent chills up my spine. In fact, this thought greatly delayed my purchase of what turned out to be a great car. With this book, I am happy to say this situation has changed. This manual goes a long way in taking the mystery out of working on your own Porsche. It is very well organized with clear text and many great photos and tips. I am still reading through it all but already the car looks much less complex to me and my mind is more at ease in terms of what I can do myself to keep ownership costs reasonable.I also like that the author points out known problems with the cars (problems Porsche will not admit to) and solutions available in the aftermarket. Engine design flaws and failure modes are discussed (such as the itermediate shaft bearing failure problem) and the models most affected are identified. I really enjoyed reading the various innovative solutions people have come up with. Photos of various "shop made" tools were also helpful. An example is the the cam shaft holder tool that locks the cam shaft in place within the head when the cam cover is removed. Many owners/enthusiasts of sports cars enjoy being able work on their own cars. Why does Porsche (of all companies) not get this? Cheers to the author (an MIT Engineer)for a job well done!BTW, there are some very good boxter engine rebuild videos on utube... again great to see the information getting out on these cars.

Will drive your partner CRAZY
This book will keep you sane while driving your partner CRAZY; As in you wanting to be in the garage doing various Porschephile upgrades and your partner routinely inquiring as when you will be done. Let's keep that at never for now. Great comprehensive book written from an enthusiast's perspective. Just knowing what needs doing and how it is done even if you do not have the requisite skills will keep everyone honest and realistic with these wonderful P-Cars. Enjoy; purchase with no reservations as recommended by a fellow Porsche owner.

If you have a 986, you need this
Has helped me learn my new to me 22 year old car and feel confident doing things myself. Great step by step instructions with detailed pictures. In the past month it’s helped me save over $1000 in labor fees, and it’s been fun/rewarding. I’m actually enjoying the car more since getting this book. So many more projects I want to tackle. I highly recommend.

Interesting but basic
This is a nicely prepared book, but the information and descriptions are a bit basic. Wasn’t very helpful to me, but it might be good for a newby.

Great read for the Boxster owner
Great book for those looking to take on a few projects with their Boxsters. Projects are rated by the degree of difficulty which is very helpful in knowing which projects you might want take on and those you might to leave to the professionals

your best bet!
This is as excellent that a DIY resource can get. Wayne already had a brilliant website pelicanparts.com with tons of technical information for DIYers like me. Putting all that information organized in a book was what one could hope. The book does far more than put all that useful information together. The amazing color pictures and presentation makes it almost as good as a video.Being an engineer at heart, I am not a big fan of just the repair manuals which is just saying how you take something apart and put back together. This book provides technical information that will tell you why you are doing what you are. Ofcourse you'll need other manuals as references but this book was a 'must-have' in my collection of tools.Great work Wayne! Thanks
