Highly recommend, 3.5 years later
I absolutely love this mat. It is truly a joy to practice on. I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and this is my 4th mat. My first one lasted quite a long time and the second one was added for extra padding after we changed out our carpet for laminate floors. I began to notice I wasn't as stable about one year ago and started having grip issues a short time later. I tried a more expensive mat that guaranteed no slipping and great balance. At first it was pretty awesome, but as time went on (about 6 months), it became worse than my original mat. I contacted the vendor to hold them to their guarantee and was basically told, this is just how yoga mats are - it's been nine months now since I bought that one. So I began searching for a mat and came to realize that it was going to cost a bit of money for a good mat. Honestly, it was hard to spend this type of money on a yoga mat, but I also wanted to avoid buying another mat in less than a year. I would have been ahead replacing my first mat with this to begin with.I am looking to become a yoga instructor and wanted a mat that would hold up to my practice, the training and hopefully while I begin teaching. I carefully searched the reviews of this and two other professional mats and chose this one. I am so glad I did. The grip and stability are absolutely amazing. I feel so secure in my poses. It has even helped me to notice where my alignment has become sloppy as a result of trying to not slip out of poses on the previous mat. Someone mentioned that it is almost too grippy for their flow. I have not found this to be an issue. This definitely is a heavy duty mat and I fully believe it is worth the money. I also love the slightly larger size. I am never off of it, which may be minor to some, but I find distracting and annoying during my practice. My only disappointment with it is the blue is pictured more like a teal. The actual color reminds me of cornflower blue. I would have preferred the teal color, but by no means does that change how amazing this mat is. While I have only had this mat a few weeks now, I plan on updating this review in 6 months and a year. If it holds up, this will be the mat I buy for my husband when he is ready to start his practice.Update: 3.5 years later amd this mat is still as great as when I first used it. If it does ever wear out, I will replace it with the same type, maybe just a different color.

Finally I found my favorite mat
This is (finally) the mat I’ve been searching for. I was hesitant because others complained that they didn’t find it cushy enough or grippy enough. Everyone’s needs are different but I found this grippier than my yogitoes towel (both when wet and dry), no odor, and plenty cushy. And I’m a super hard person to please with items like these. I was expecting to be as critical as others. To the contrary, it was worth every penny and I love this mat. I’m about to start YTT and I’m so glad I invested in this. It’s also beautiful. I haven’t noticed any staining or discoloration. I usually lay it out after class to air dry and then roll it up.For context I’ve tried about 6 different types of mats over the years: extra foamy/cushy, thinner biodegradable Manduka mat, the typical style you can buy at a yoga studio that looks like the cabinet liner material, a high end Pilates mat. I do hot yoga so I’d typically use my yogitoes towel. I never enjoyed the whole process of wetting it before class enough to not be annoying when you lay on it but grippy enough to give you a good foundation in downward dog. My towel would sometimes move under me or flip up in certain poses. This mat has changed my yoga practice significantly. I can get deep into poses with no slippage.

Long-lasting non-slip mat
I’ve had my first Clever mat for over 4 years of hard use and am finally replacing it. After trying and destroying all the popular brands, I will never go back. My Clever mat has stood up to sweat, down dogs, balancing and back-bends without slips. It is a bit heavier than some other mats, but the thickness adds comfort for my bony knees. In my 20 years of practice, I’ve never had another mat that compares to this one.

Best mat on the market.
I've had this mat for over 1.5 years now. Nothing about it has been worn or diminished. I'm surprised I haven't worn heel/ball of foot marks into it from poses like 3 legged dog and warrior. I love that it's the perfect size. I've tried an XL jade yoga mat before this. It was 10+ pounds, and extremely long (mat width) which made walking through doorways difficult. Also hurt the shoulder.I'm big on wide child's pose and standard 24" just does not cut it. My usual studio's floor is also extremely dusty and old. The other mat was also stupid heavy. I like that this mat is only 6.5 pounds and has the most comfortable/convenient/cool carrying case. The latex jade mat I tried also wound up making me extremely ill due to the strong latex fumes. Even in class huffing the fumes in child's pose made my fingertips tingle and feel light headed. I am... admittedly quite sensitive to smells. This is one of the only 100% latex free rubber mats on the market. Lulu and Manuka are only 99. I sleep on latex pillows bc their springiness and rebound is unmatched - but only in waterproof pillow cases. I love the qualities of latex but I'm not willing to huff it.I also like that the rubber bottom is a nice thick tread type pattern. Unlike Lulu's bottom which appears to be made from recycled tires. Lulu's bottom looks like shredded rubber fused together. Also their mats have that 1 rounded corner which... I don't care for. Clever has 4 rounded corners. This mat is also amazing for hot yoga. I slip too much on PVC in down dog in a regular class, nevermind heated. I'm also content that this mat is the perfect balance of size, thickness, and weight. Now, I can't roll my life away in happy baby like I could on the half inch thick jade. And I do feel floor on my knees.. but that's not the mat's fault. It's carrying weight is perfect as is. Also... you feel very secure and supported in your poses like warrior 2.Something you'll have to live with if you roll your mat face down, you will pick up grains of dusty on the floor your rolling it on.

Me gusta el antideslizante, sin embargo no creo que me haya llegado en buenas condiciones, esa mancha que se aprecia en la foto no se quita.

Potential health hazard with added bad customer service response!
The media could not be loaded. The mat was purchased in 2020 but used irregularly. Before the Clever Yoga Mat, I bought other brand mats (much cheaper), and they are in like-new condition. However, this mat has not held up to the same standard, and I must express my disappointment in its quality.Despite my regular cleaning of the mat as recommended, I have noticed that my hands get dirty after using it, which is not the experience I expected from a high-quality product. The mat releases blue residue, which you can see in the video and images.I contacted Clever Yoga Mat's customer service, which many customers praised for being good and very responsive. This was one of the reasons I bought the mat. To me, having a high-quality product with good customer service was important. After contacting customer service and providing the requested images/video and proof of purchase, I expected a prompt resolution. However, it has been a month since I last heard from them, which is disappointing given their reputation for good and responsive service. Two weeks after I sent the video and the images, I submitted another claim referencing the first one.Still radio silence!I understand they may not want to refund or replace the faulty product, but it is common courtesy to respond.I am disappointed and will not buy another product from this company. I will also warn all my friends, family, and acquaintances about the quality of the product and customer service. It's a shame because I liked the product and wanted to allow the customer service team to fix the issue. It looks like they didn't care much about the potential health hazard.UPDATE: Eventually, they contacted me back with an apology for the delay. They said they would send me a replacement mat because it was very important to fix the problem and have satisfied customers. They asked for my address (I had already given it to them). They replied a couple of days later, saying they would not send me the replacement mat because I lived outside the US.So, they sell internationally, but their customer service stops at the US border. This experience went from bad to worse.
