I read this book as part of a woman's group that was looking for direction on starting a womans mentoring ministry at our church. I think that susan hunt has some good things to say in regard to living as a mentor and encourages all women to mentor no matter their age. The style of writing that she uses was a bit hard for me to read. It felt a bit scattered or disjointed at times and slightly "old fashioned" in her thoughts. I agree with biblical leadership of the church with a male pastor in authority under the headship of Christ. This book had a tone of more old fashioned gender roles in talking a bit about having an organized house and planning nice meals with nice table settings in one of the stories that proceeds the chapters.I also noticed several times when the authors opinions did not line up with my biblical world view, example page 132 " A wifes responsibility to make her husband happy. it is Gods responsibility to make him holy..." I also felt there was a tone of perfectionism and lack of grace throughout the book.Overall the book was an ok read and had some good thoughts especially in chapter 11 "comforting the comfortless". I do think that a personal study of titus 2 may prove more fruitful and do think that there are other books on mentoring that would be more practical and helpful than this book.

Women mentoring women
Spiritual Mothering is a very readable explanation of women mentoring women, which can range from specifically studying scripture together all the way to helping and guiding in everyday life. Our church used this for a women's Bible Study and it was very helpful in making us see the importance of relationships among women, especially within the church community, and how helpful and influential we can be in each others' lives as followers of Jesus (and in aiding in that journey with women on the outskirts of the Christian community as they come into our lives).

Intelligent, powerful, and beautiful message
This book is inspiring and intelligent. I can get frustrated with books for women that dumb down concepts for me or are overly emotional. This book is sharp, incisive, well written for lay people but yet requires me to use my brain. It is full of beautiful truths about the obligations that women of different generations and maturity levels have for each other, and the incredible design God has for our unique traits as women. The book shows how valuable God made women. I am reading this book as part of a multigenerational women’s small group and it provides wonderful discussion points for a group as well.

Excellent!
I have had a few wonderful spiritual mothers in my younger years and am looking to return the favor. This book teaches and encourages and give examples and recommendations on how to do that. Our church started a Titus 2 class to encourage mentoring and this book is one of our main sources.

Godly advice for any age
I purchased this as a gift for my mother in law and she has told me several times how much she loves it! She has grown children and grandchildren now and lately has been struggling to find her purpose outside of the immediate family. She said this book has truly opened her eyes to see opportunities with younger Christian women that God has placed in her path and given her applicable things she can do to help lead them. I am so thankful for this book and for the changes it has brought!!

My favorite study so far!
This is one of the better studies on that I have done. I enjoyed it so much on my own that I encouraged a couple friends to do it with me. They have also thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe its the season of life we are in but I feel like it speaks so much truth in how we as women can relate to the scripture

Wow! Every woman needs to read this book
This is an amazing read and I have read it several times over and found it to be brimming with useful and practical information that works. We need more mentors in the world around us today to help others along on their journey and to give them a sounding board and someone to talk with about life's deeper issues. Someone who can lead by example and who can keep others accountable to grow and mature in the things that matter.

Um clássico sobre discipulado de mulheres por mulheres
Comprei para minha esposa, e ela está adorando. É um clássico que ensina mulheres mais maduras a discipularem mulheres mais jovens, com base em Tito 2.
