Campfire Scalp Relief
I waited a few months before reviewing, but I think I can definitely say that this shampoo has been a big help in managing my recurring scalp folliculitis.Prior to giving this shampoo a try I would use Head and Shoulders or Selsun Blue and while they helped somewhat I feel like I’ve seen better results with using this shampoo everyday. I do occasionally use Selsun Blue if I feel a recurrence on its way so I feel like alternating this shampoo and Selsun Blue works for scalp.I usually wake up with my scalp feeling a little itchy in the back, but after showering my scalp feels refreshed and is pretty good throughout the rest of the day.The shampoo does have a strong campfire smell, but it’s not as bad as some reviews make it out to be. I only really smell it when I’m showering and that’s it. At this point I’ve grown to like the smell and will definitely keep buying this shampoo.

Pine Tar!
Pine tar soap in general has this smell that reminds me of being in a Fleet Farm (or Farm and Fleet depending on your location) for those not near either it's a hardware store. Anyhow, it doesn't smell like pine. It smells like pine tar. It's a dark and kind of smokey smell, but doesn't really make me think of trees and certainly not pine. I'm not making any judgments, but it's probably more suited to men than women. But hey, who am I to decide? The shampoo is definitely better if you like the soap for washing your hair, the brick works too, but it's not as easy of course. Pine tar is supposedly good for itchiness and so on, but I don't have trouble with that so I can't really attest to its performance there. It does tend to stiffen/dry out your hair though, so combining with a conditioner isn't probably a bad idea, but again, your mileage may vary.

Not The Best
It appears as on reviewer stated, this is not the original formula. they have also put the product in a slippery tube andtaken it out of the green plastic bottle. I might be trying to compare this shampoo to the original bar soap. The bar soapappears to be the same as always, rich, creamy and refreshing. I am rating this shampoo on its cleansing properties. It doesn't seem to clean the hair and scalp as well and rinse as clean as the bar soap. I have been using the bar soap towash my hair and scalp for years. This shampoo doesn't fit the bill, as to what it was formulated to do. I would hope theycould take a bar of their soap and make a liquid shampoo out of it. I thought that's what they did, that's NOT what happened. For those of you that are concerned about the smell, you need not be concerned about that. The smell dissipates immediatelyafter rinsing. Hope this gives some insight as to these pine tar products. The bar soap is truly immaculate, I guess, likeeverything else these days, until they change it and destroy it...

Smells Weird Now
This shampoo cleared up my very flaky scalp when I first purchased it. I have Hashimotos and hypothyroid so the flakiness has been really hard to kick prior to this shampoo. It has offered lots of healing for my scalp. However, the second time I purchased this 2 pack and the scent is completely different. It sort of smells like ...beggin strips or some other bacon flavored dog treat lol. I liked the pine smell way better (I’d prefer to smell like a Christmas tree than a dog treat). I’m noticing more breakage and dryness with my hair too. I don’t know if they changed the formula or what, but I’ll be cutting down to using this once a week to keep my scalp in check. Bummer.

GOODBYE ITCHY SCALP
I have used several of the so-called anti-dandruff shampoos. They all caused my scalp to itch after using and I had to soak my hair with LISTERINE to stop the itch. I had used GRANDPA'S PINE TAR SHAMPOO years ago. I rememberd the pleasant aroma, so I decided to use it again. It leaves my hair soft, and most important - no itch!

Grandpa’s Pine Tar Shampoo
A good shampoo with a mild pine scent that is not overpowering. I don’t have any outstanding scalp conditions so I can’t comment on anything concerning such matters. I bought it because it was something new and different and so I wanted to simply try it out. I like it!
