Quality book, and a must have
The quality of the physical book was good. It felt good, and the letters were easy to read. I also like the simplicity of the cover. As for the content inside, I like it a lot! Locke wasn't perfect, but I think he had some very good ideas in here, especially when it comes to being free, property, and how a state should be. However, there are a few parts where he feels like he contradicts himself, but it feels like it's only in a way to appeal to his time, and can easily be ignored. Also, I feel like the book could have easily ended after 10 or so chapters, and still have most of what you would need to know.I would say it's a must read for anyone who likes philosophy, or even American history to some extent.

A must read for students of American politics!
This is perhaps one of the most important works of political theory ever written. Anyone studying the foundation of American politics and government must read this short classic work. Perhaps, more than any other individual, Locke’s influence upon the Founding Fathers and modern American government was prolific and eternal.

The 17th Century's State of the Art Government Philosophy
I’ve read a couple of things recently from enlightenment-era political philosophers that start from some supposed state of nature but their idea of a state of nature is wrong from what we know of anthropology. I’m not sure if this entirely invalidates Locke here or Rousseau elsewhere.A couple of things here that strike me. What Locke in this work was doing was basically writing in support of the status quo. But I find it weird that a hundred years later the framers in the colonies went and took his defense of a constitutional monarchy and then adjusted it a bit for a somewhat representative democracy. There’s a lot of assumptions built in here that go unquestioned from what a “just” war is to slavery to patrilineal inheritance that probably should be unpacked a bit but are not.

Awesome condition
Received it quickly and it was in great condition. Would go with this seller again. John Locke is insufferable but I had to read it for class and got an A so everything turned out great!

A good read
One of the books that are the cornerstones of the foundation the U.S. of A where founded on and shows the depth of thinking that some of the so labeled founding fathers were capable of.

Work that led to the proposition that politicians are servants of the people
Locke was one of the very few who took away from the English Civil War that there needed to be a relationship between the government and those governed that the nation would be govern to the benefit of the people. His work was incorporated into The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the US.
