I like this phone, may require two readings of abridged user's manual.
The CD4930 is manufactured by Hong Kong based Advanced American Telephones, a division of VTech. This division was formerly Lucent, and before that, it was called Western Electric. Advanced American Telephones licenses the AT&T logo.Overall seem to be well built. Cables could be longer. Lowest volume setting for ringer (other than off) may be a bit loud for some. Allows for up to 7 rings before answering machine responds. The CD4930 has replaced a 23 year old Casio Phoneme TA-105 and an older “AT&T” trim-line knock-off. Appears to be more efficient than the elderly Casio (UPS shows a few more minutes of run time available). The CD4930 plugs in, and does not contain any batteries. It will be powered by the same uninterruptible power supply (120v. battery backup) as the cable modem, router and several laptops. Should save maybe $8 or so per year not needing to replace batteries. Old setup used 9v. battery for Casio unit and 4 AA cells for telephone.Thought it was dead on arrival, but made sure receiver was plugged in to handset, then pressed answer/power button. This cleared the No AC power display and started prompted setup. Troubleshooting guide indicates handset line cord must be plugged into handset and phone to prevent No AC Power message.Misinterpreted instructions on first reading. I incorrectly attached a part that was only intended for wall mounting, which caused a good deal of instability on a tabletop.

Better than advertised.
After a power failure, my home phone didn't work any more. A couple of sons couldn't get it to work, so I read the reviews and decided to order this one. I am 90 so asked my brother to set it up for me. Just took him minutes and it works perfectly. I received it the same day I ordered it. So happy to have it and to have the service.

Nothing like a land line.
Miss ol’reliable landlines, they never fail.
