No it can not be deactivated. I spoke with the manufacturer shortly after I purchased mine 30 months ago. Their statement was that "in time it will be softer". 30 months later it has not changed one iota.

Q: Does this target the back of the thighs well? Do the rollers reach that far down?

No , reaches under the buttocks ( farthest down as i could find . Claims to be the longest L track) then stops ( just like sitting in a chair) and air bladders pick back up in the calves of lower legs. Love mine ,hope that helps

Q: Is this chair silent ?

All massage chairs produce noise however, we have reduced noise level on this chair over previous version and it is now quieter than other massage chairs on the market.

Q: Any plans to offer the chair in leather?

We do have a new model in developing with genuine leather and we will launch in next year but not this model.
