VERY Sharp and attractive.
We have other Global knives in this G-9 style so this is a nice match. Met all of our expectations for a Global knife. Sharp, nicely weighted without being to heavy and fits our hands comfortably. Blade length is ideal for breads and bagels. Cuts cleanly in a few strokes.

A great bread knife.
This is a great break knife. The only thing that would be better is if it came with a blade cover.

Like you guessed it
Professional Chef for 20 years, I will buy and use any global knife with ease. If you are looking for a beginner knife set you only need 2 knives. One serrated and one chef knive. This bread knife can be used for soft, spongy type products. Like you guessed it, bread and tomatoes come to mind. As far as a second knife I would suggest Global G-48 - 7 inch, 18cm Santoku Hollow Ground Knife. After that its w/e your pretty little mind thinks it needs :p.So why Global? They are light weight, easy to grip, easy to sharpen and hold their edge far longer then any cheap knife. The part that sold me is how it feels when it cuts. Just can't replicate that. Anybody that has cut things for 20 years will know what I mean!

Make Bread Fear You
I am going to own my bias front and center. I love Global knives. I own several and they are all fantastic. However, I almost didn't buy this bread knife after making easy work of a french baguette at my sisters using a cheap electric knife. I just wasn't sure if even a Global product could get such thin pieces of bread without damaging the structure.Purchasing this knife was the right choice. Per the usual, the weight of blade feels amazing in your hands. Most impressive for me is that it feels great for me (comically large hands) as well as my significant other (small hands). The real star of the show is how efficiently and smoothly the knife cuts bread. I've used it with a variety of styles and each one has been effortless. I even once used it to cut a piece of precut sandwich bread into two thinner pieces.Overall, if you like Global knives you will not regret this purchase, thin or thick it does a great job of cutting bread.
