A fantastic dreamy realm!
John Fowles' metafiction - The Magus, is an absorbing story. The protagonist gets embroiled in a master trickster's illusions that become darker as the story progresses. This is a literary classic that is engaging, eccentric at times and intense throughout. The masterfully created confusion between what's real and what is not keeps you in a dreamy world for the better part of the book's length. To try and sum it up in this review is impossible (at least for me), this book demands a read and then another to fully understand the intricacies of this fantastic world.

Poor printing
The book seems fine on the exterior but the print quality is extremely poor which makes it seem like a copy of the original.I had to go with this since it is hard to find in bookstores

One word - Boring. This book is the product of a writer who has too high an opinion about his vocabulary and philosophical ideas. Frankly, it felt like John Fowels suffered from a serious case of verbal diarrhoea when writing this. The characters are so shallow and the plot just pointless. I listened to the audiobook and while the narrator was great, that's where the magic of The Magus ended.Skip the weeks of self-inflicted torture and pick up a book that's actually worth reading.
