Q: Can I use it to cut potatoes to make potato salad?

Yes, I have used the cheese slicer to cut up cooled cooked potatoes and hard boiled eggs for my potato salad. Works great!

Q: Will it work on hard cheese

It depends how hard the cheese is I think. Personally I wouldn't try it on aged parmesan for fear of breaking the wire. I have successfully sliced young asiago without a problem. I have noticed that if I'm cutting a very wide block of sharp cheddar that the wire will sometimes bow ever so slightly so that when it finally reaches the bottom channel it snaps just a bit and touches the side of the bottom channel on that snap. Not really a problem except for a few extra cheese crumbs, but that makes me think I would not want to chance it on a really hard piece of cheese.

Q: Can i use this to cut homemade soap?

This slicer will slice hard cheddar, however it does cause the wire to give a small amount. I think soap would be harder but I don’t know. It works GREAT as a cheese slicer. I have one in both of my homes.

Q: Would this slice pepperoni?

My son tried and wire broke. So best answer would be no.
