Better than big brand
I really like this floss- it’s worth the higher cost than other big brand charcoal floss. I have tight teeth and it fits just fine as it spreads across the tooth surface and is more productive, but isn’t too wide to fit between my teeth.

Best dental floss I've ever used and I've tried them all
New convert here! I floss least 2x daily, sometimes more. I bought this on sale on Prime Day and I can confidently say that this is the very best dental floss on the market. I've tried all kinds as a habitual flosser. 😆Every day it feels like I just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist's office. It doesn't slide off my teeth, it stays stuck and scrubs them for real, and every time I use it, the floss looks like I've never flossed before which is gross but I know it's getting between my teeth super clean. Try it!

My holy grail floss!
I’ve ordered close to 10 of these in the last 1.5 years. I gifted a few for Christmas care packages and stocking stuffers. Yeah, I know, it’s just “floss” but it’s not your regular white, wax coated thin, flimsy floss. This floss is superb! It is waxed and coated in charcoal with a slight minty flavor. No, you cannot taste any charcoal. I love that it’s expanding floss and works great with getting out everything! Its sturdy yet flexible. It’s kind of gross but cool to see what you floss out cause it shows against the black floss. Now do note, if you have super tight teeth, this floss my not work well for you since you may not be able to get it through between your teeth due to it being slightly thicker than your average floss. Each pack of floss lasts a while and I feel has more than the normal pack of floss. Totally get it and try it. I highly recommend this floss!

= or > Listerine Gentle Gum Care
I used J & J Reach / Listerine Gentle Gum Care from its inception (30+yrs?) and was bummed when it went the way of the Dodo bird. Adversity brings opportunity, however, and as a result I am now happier with Xlent expandable floss. It is a bit thicker than the Listerine floss but not much. I have actually grown to appreciate the (slight) extra thickness as I feel it makes better contact with my teeth. When flossing the teeth that have less space between them, I simply apply a more deliberate force to the flossing motion which makes the thickness a non-issue. Xlent floss is also a single strand vs the multi-strand Listerine floss which means it NEVER frays when cutting the floss length as the Listerine floss occasionally did (and Xlent floss NEVER pops out of its dispenser!). Some reviewers complained about the flavor of Xlent floss, but I can't taste any flavor whatsoever (I liked the mint flavor of Listerine floss, so I miss that aspect). I also have not experienced any black residue on my teeth after flossing that some reviewers mention, nor do I feel that Xlent floss is at all "waxy." Finally, I love that the 3pk came with one dispenser and two refills which cuts down on waste. "Waste is worse than loss" ~Thomas EdisonOverall, I recommend this floss without reservation to those who loved Listerine Gentle Gum Care floss. In fact, if the Listerine floss returned, I would stay with the Xlent floss. (And thank you to the reviewer whose review convinced me to try Xlent floss vs the other alternatives)

It expands when wet
It expands when wet, so helps press against the sides of the tooth, but if your teeth are tightly spaced, it might not be for you. My teeth are very tight in some areas and it tends to shred the floss in those areas. Sometimes is results in the fibers getting caught in between my teeth and can be a bit difficult to get it out. If this is the case for you, you might be better off using a more slippery, anti shred type of floss, that will get into those tight spaces without shredding. For everyone else, it works great, as for other parts of my mouth, where the teeth aren't as tight. I use it with my reusable floss holder, which saves me from having to use as much floss. I use it with my Quip floss holder.

Great for those with stubborn plaque / wider tooth spaces
I have some mild gum recession plus already wider tooth spaces, therefore the thinness of regular waxed floss never seems to do the job of getting my teeth and gums really clean. I used to use a woven kind of floss that did work much better than regular floss; sadly some years ago it was discontinued.Amazon does carry some woven floss products, but most of them seemed ridiculously expensive for how much you got. Eventually, I learned about expandable floss as an alternative that led me to this one. This floss is the bomb! The charcoal does not cause my fingers or mouth to have any black residue, and the flavor is a very light mint. As you use the floss, the moisture in your mouth/gums is what makes it expand that helps it cling to your tooth surfaces and scrape up the tartar and plaque. What you floss up contrasts with the charcoal color: I was delighted to see how much gunk it was getting out.You get a lot of floss with the product, and I definitely feel it well worth the cost for its effectiveness. I am not sure if this would function well for people with really tight tooth spaces, but for anyone who desires an effective floss this is for you.

Charcoal floss and dispenser - well done
Charcoal floss is my favorite and I like how easy this brand is easy on my gums. When the package arrived there was no dispenser, so I contacted customer support and they did a great job of getting me the dispenser, no questions asked. Very helpful.

Works well
We've been using this dental floss for years and feel it works really well. I like that I can buy replacement floss and keep using the canister.
