Q: Are these hard to open?

I think so-- I'm a 75 yr old lady and can open them slightly with one hand and all the way with both hands,

Q: How much weight can one clamp hold? Could 1 clamp hold up a 10 pound photo backdrop ?

I used them to weigh down a flag from blowing in the wind. I don’t know how much weight that can hold . They work fine for my flag

Q: Do these hold metal wires firmly (without damaging wires) for wire weaving?

Yes they could do that. That was not the use I had for them, but I can’t see why that application would be a problem.
