New Boba Air (Black) - Lightweight Baby Carrier

Perfect for travel
Needed a compact, lightweight carrier for traveling (and light hikes around Yosemite) with my 1-year-old daughter and this was perfect for our needs! I have an ergobaby 360 that I received for my son and have worn it maybe 3 times in 3 years. It's huge, thick, not breathable, and impossible to travel with because it's so bulky. It made me despise baby carriers, but this one changed my whole outlook. The Boba Air is made out of comfortable nylon, packs into itself, weighs nothing, and is super comfortable. When I was researching compact carriers, it was between this one and the Bitybean UltraCompact, so I ordered both, and the Boba Air was by far the clear winner. The Bitybean has ZERO support and I felt like I would have to hold my baby up the whole time to be comfortable. Bitybean packed up smaller, but not enough to make a significant difference to me. I also read that this version of the Boba Air has been updated from their previous carrier to include padding on the arm straps and padding where the baby's legs fall. Thank goodness, because without it, I think it would have been super uncomfortable for both of us. I wore the carrier for several hours in 80- to 90-degree heat and never felt tired, hot, or uncomfortable. The only negative (and I think this goes for every compact carrier) is that you can't wear the baby facing out. This wasn't a huge issue for us yet (it might be in the future as she gets older), but if you have a curious kid who needs to be facing out, that will be an issue. I also tried wearing her on my back, but that position wasn't as comfortable.

Still good, but why these shoulder straps?
I had the 2014 version, which was far superior to the 2017 version. Previously we had two boba air for our twins. We could wear one on the front and one on the back. The boba air was light and compacted nicely in its case. We had sold our baby things and unfortunately our bobas because we now have a surprise third child. So, I bought the boba again and now have the 2017 version. So from vast experience I can say that the company has been sadly misled into widening the shoulder straps and adding this stupid mesh material. I really don't get it. Now, I am not trying to fit another boba on my back but looking at the straps, I don't see how I could comfortably.Twin mamas sorry for you, the boba is no longer your ideal carrier. Good luck out there. And for my single baby, I do appreciate the padding around the leg hole, that is an improvement; however, it was never an issue before. Nonetheless, I can see the point of this. The mesh and the wide strap that bows out on my shoulder instead of forming to my body because it is so stiff is really useless.I'm super curious why they messed with perfection. In any case I do appreciate the pocket in the front and the hood, which works really well. I do think the material is different than what I had before, which was more like a parachute material. This is stiffer so I will see if it is as nice as the previous version I had. I noticed the bag it comes in was a bit bigger than before, although not enough to be an issue. I assume that is because of these awful shoulder straps. Why?

Best Baby Carrier for Summer
I have a lillebaby complete, moby wrap, a sling style, and a cheap infantino carrier. This boba air is amazing for carrying heavy baby around the house and during short outings. My 25 lb 8 months old baby sits comfortably in this on a hot summer day. She even fell asleep in it multiple times. It is surprisingly very comfortable compared to my well padded lillebaby complete and much cooler for both baby and mama. Highly recommend!Hope the hood can be taken off tho because baby hates it on her head and when it's put away in the pouch, the extra layer of fabric placed right on her back makes her hot.

Practical.
3 stars because I ordered BLACK but received GRAY. I think because in between my order being processed and shipped the price bumped up $20. I didn’t return it because I was so desperate to use it. Carrying my baby around on the car seat was getting uncomfortable (my stroller Britax B-Agile isn’t as small as I need it to be sometimes) and carrying her would cause pain in my lower abdomen (only 4 mos postpartum at the time). It’s a great carrier.Lightweight.Easy to clean.Easy to throw in my diaper bag.Comfortable enough that my baby falls asleep while in it and I can breastfeed her too.

Shoulder straps ridiculously wide
Two stars for it being well made. But -3 stars for the shoulder straps. They are so ridiculously wide! And the area that is padded is very long. So, particularly with a back carry, no matter how I adjust it the straps go up under my armpits (and would definitely cause chafing if worn for any extended period) and they feel like they're going to fall off my shoulders. Not only are the straps themselves wide, but they are set wider apart than on my ergo (the top of the panel is wider).I actually even sought out a used 2015 version and the way it is made is actually exactly the same. The only saving grace is the lack padding so the straps can't dig in under my arms. Although I do wish it had the legs padding for my kid.I also ordered the Bitybean which I returned bc the waist band is too narrow. Of the three, the old Boba Air wins -- but it's still not great.

Perfect for travel
Simple, light weight, and easy enough to pack back into it's bag. I bought this to assist with air travel when I need a free hand to bag my carseat and collapse the stroller on the jet bridge. It does the job of securing the baby well enough for me to have two hands free and bend forward. I definitely didn't want a bulky carrier in the airport, and like being able to scrunch this up since I use a small diaper bag/backpack and only carry-on baggage. She is only 15 lbs, so I can't say how comfortable it will be long term, but the convenience factor for travel is great. When flying, you are supposed to remove the baby for take-off/landing, but I just kept the carrier strapped to my waist the whole flight and it didn't bother me at all. It was easy to quickly put the baby back in and deplane as a solo-traveler with a bag, stroller, and baby to handle.

Nylon- makes baby sweat after a short time!
The Boba carriers were recommended by a friend who has a 4G. I tried hers and liked it but couldn't afford one so thought I would try this cheaper version as it doesn't look too different! However...The biggest disappointment for me is that the Boba air is made of nylon which looks and feels like a rain mac not the soft brushed cotton feel of the 4G! I tried it in the house for a short time and the baby although comfortable got very warm and sweaty. Her hair was all wet! The material is also slippy and the baby seemed to be slipping down into/below the waist band part which is not padded! I think the 4G has a padded waist band! Otherwise the design is very good! It is comfortable, easy to put on and take off and folds into itself and zips up few easy storage and would easily for into a bag or even a large pocket (if you have one)!Unfortunately I have decided to return it to buy one which is not made of nylon!

Lightweight and easy to use.
Didn’t realise it was for 3months plus so it’s still too big for my baby he vanishes into it.Wasn’t as robust feeling as I expected, but it is nice and lightweight. Quite easy to get the baby in and out of, which some other carriers aren’t. Reasonably easy to adjust although I do wish there was more padding on the straps for my shoulders.

Useful
Easy to use and easy to wear but not comfy on shoulders no padding

Does the job
Great item, my boy was getting too heavy for our stretchy wrap but I wanted something easy and light weight, this is perfect for what I need

Nice carrier
I have been experimenting with different carriers that benefited both myself and my little one. Initially I liked this one. Very lightweight (love that it's compact, packs itself into its pouch, and that I can throw it into my purse or diaper bag), breathable, and easy to put baby in. My concerns were that the belt wasn't very sturdy, and at times I didn't feel the baby was secure. Loved the portability of it, but didn't feel it was appropriate for my heavy baby (haha).
