I have been shaving my head daily in the shower for the last seventeen years. With that said, I am a self-appointed expert on the major razors available commercially. Overall, Remington "King of Shaves" has been consistent in providing an excellent shave. The cartridges are less expensive than the other top three razor brands currently on the market. The cost of replacement cartridges is a genuine incentive for me due to the rate at which I go through cartridges. If you are tired of investing excessive monies for Gillette and/or Schick brand razors but do not want to annihilate your skin with dollar store razors, I recommend test driving the Remington "King of Shaves" for one month.

So you can tell by my review title that I've got mixed feelings about this razor. You may LOVE it. You may HATE it. Let's try to figure out what camp you'll find yourself in.The baseline: My beard is of medium thickness, medium coarseness, and grows at an average to fast rate.The Remmington King of Shaves (KOS) razor heads provide the closest, gentlest shave I've ever experienced with a razor and that includes everything I've tried made by Gillette. As a lifetime Gillette guy, even typing that stuns me, but it's true. That close and gentle shave comes with some useability asterisks, however. The five blades in the KOS razor are REALLY close together and can clog easily. I find that if I shave every day, I don't have a problem with hair getting stuck between the blades. If I skip a day, I'm still usually OK. Skip two days? Fuggetaboutit. This baby is getting clogged. (This is one arena where Gillette razors really shine. You can get Gillette razors to cut just about anything of any length with some TLC.)IF you shave every day, you'll be rewarded. This razor is so gentle, sometimes it doesn't even feel like you're shaving. It's more like a kitten patting your face (claws not included). If you DON'T shave every day, you may be in for some tough sledding, having to pause frequently to dislodge beard from between the blades.Enough about the blades. Let's talk handle. This one stinks. It's got no good places to grip. It's a porcelain-smooth white plastic throughout. Any moisture makes this handle fumblingly difficult to guide on your face. Bad design. Thankfully, the KOS system has multiple handles, some with much better grip zones. If the close/gentle blades sound interesting, please do yourself a favor and buy a KOS set with a different handle.Overall, I still have to say that in spite of the close/gentle benefits KOS provides, Gillette razors are still the best a man can get... especially if you want to skip a day.

The razor is simple, elegant, and lightweight... lightweight almost to a fault (feels a bit chintzy in hand, but good for travel). The blades do not gunk up like schik and some other razors (which tend to trap longer shavings between and behind the blades). A relatively smooth shave... better than schik but not as good as a high-end gillette. the lack of trimming blade on the end is also a minus. the brand and design are certainly more appealing to me than gillette, but i have to admit that as a 5-o'clock shadow guy at it's not quite as good my new gillette.the azor is good for body hair, and presumably medium to light beards, but doesn't cut it quite as well as some for a heavy beard.if it were a bit cheaper i'd give it a 4 ;-)

I thought I could save a ton of money on blades vs my old razor system............What happened was that after using this razor only a 1/2 dozen times, compared to my current razor, this razor and blade system literally tore up my face.Current razor & blades: Gillette fusion razor and blades.

Best razor ever!! My roommate left one when she moved out and I had never heard if King of Shaves, so I was on the hunt... Glad Amazon has them!! Now, if only I could find the blades without having to buy a whole razor every time! I’ll never change as long as this ones available 👍

I have the now discontinued Queen of Shaves Azor, which is exactly the same but different colors. I don't know what it is about this razor but I feel like I get a better shave than anything else I've tried. My husband used this too for a long time until he got his fancy safety razor and brush, and he also loved it. I definitely don't cut myself up nearly as much, it feels like I have much more control.
