Hammerite Aerosol Spray Paint Smooth Yellow 400Ml

my recommendation for this product after some experimentation/messing about/ trial and error/ mistakes, is that for a large area it will take a lot of spray cans and time. I have found that using a tin of this paint and brushing on for 1-2 coats, then fine sanding 240 grit wet and dry gently, then use the spray can version for final finish.For the spray version make sure you overtake, as in a solid 5 minutes. Also, be patient and as with other sprays make sure you start the spray off the part.

Need a lot

First of all let me say delivery was first class as usual.I wanted some spray paint to spruce up a child’s tricycle frame. The original was lime green that had many scrapes and faded in the sun on the upper surfaces. I looked for lime green but reviews for most said they were very thin and a waste of money. So I looked at trusted Hammerite that has always proved excellent. I chose bright yellow.Whilst I am sure the durability of the paint will be excellent like tins for hand painting, my criticism is the spray. It is not fine enough. Far too much paint comes out of the nozzle, it’s far too corse and therefore runs too easily. Admittedly I was probably holding closer than recommended, but with a frame holding too far away just wastes 90% of the contents missing the metal. I have used various paint spays for 40 years so don’t consider myself a novice, but never used any spray paint so difficult to apply evenly. Secondly, drying time for a spray to add a second coat is far too long for a spray, even in strong sunlight. Spray coating should be many fine coats and dry relatively quickly. Not this product. Finally the colour on the can lid was bright lemon yellow, whereas the finish is more custard colour. It’s still yellow as described, but nowhere near the colour shown for purchase.I also used some ‘cheap’ 12 year old black spray intended for garden machinery to coat handle bars, mudguard etc. in comparison to the Hammerite it was a dream to use. Fine even coats as I had hoped for and achieved from may other sprays.I won’t ever buy Hammerite spray again as I could get just as good finish with hammer finish and a brush.

Used to paint a deisel dumper. Used the brush version to paint the majority then two Tins to get the hard to reach places. Worried the spray might be a touch different in color to the brush version but is spot on and looks great
