Works Great
Works well with my 2011 Mac-mini. I'm using it to import old DOS games into BOXER app. Already loaded Wolfenstein 3D. I have many others to load, thanks to this compatible floppy drive.

This external drive brought back long forgotten memories
If you have old 3.5 floppy disks still stored in a box, this is the drive you need. I'm using a Windows 11 Pro and plug and play was all I did. You use file explorer to open the drive and you're done.

Shuts down as soon as insert disk, and doesn't show up on desktop at all
I was so excited to receive this, because I have many 3.5" floppy disks on which my college essays are stored, all of which I need to access for a project I'm working on. I plugged it into the back of my imac, rather than into the usb port on my keyboard, just like the directions say to do. The green light came on when plugged into my imac, so I inserted a disk. It sounded like the disk was being read, and then the whole thing abruptly shut down, and wouldn't start back up, until I unplugged it from my computer, and plugged it back in again. I thought maybe the problem was with the disk, so I tried another one, and the same thing happened. The description says it is PnP, and that it works with mac's os, but, if my experience is any indication, the description lies. I am frustrated and disappointed. And irritated. And, disheartened. And, a load of other emotions, all negative, and all directed toward the device that I now have to return. Should have gone to Best Buy in the first place, rather than wasting my time waiting around for this thing to come in the mail. Lesson learned.

Worked perfectly
I have boxes full of old 3.5" floppies including many from a deceased family member that I wanted to review and possibly save a few files to hard drive. Other than that there is no realistic use for having a 3.5" drive on a regular basis. So if it survived the task of letting me review a hundred or so disks the $13 price will have been well worth it.Comments:1. Surprisingly nice quality of construction2. Installed itself under Win 7 in a few seconds3. Recognized the first disk I inserted and read it perfectly, and every disk thereafter4. Brought back memories of how slow 3.5" floppies really were (not the fault of the drive)5. The actual manufacturer of the drive is NECNOTE: If you plug the drive in and no motor starts whirring or lights come on, don't assume it's defective. The drive will ONLY spin up after you insert a disk AND manually select Drive A on your list of drives, then it goes dormant again until you mouse click on a file you want to open. I think that's why some people thought they received a defective drive.[UPDATE] - I hadn't finished the task of copying the old floppies yet and recently bought a new high-end computer with Win 7 - 64 bit (by choice). Same as before, the drive was recognized instantly and had no problem reading the disks. I offer this to others who are trying to work with old floppies that may be 30 years old ... it may not be this drive but simply that with time those old disks have aged to the point they are just not usable. 95% of mine read fine but a few were simply too old and dried out to spin properly.

Worked for me
I was hesitant before purchasing this floppy drive because I had read a lot of complaints that it didn't or wouldn't work on people's computers. But I figured what the hell for 20 bucks I'll take the gamble. Now it's only $17 and change. Anyway, when I got it (the shipping was overnight) I plugged it in, slipped in the floppy disk I needed data from, and voila it worked like a champ. Even though I only needed it for one floppy disk it was worth the $$ because had I gone to some computer place and had them retrieve the data for me, it would have cost twice as much or more. I know, I could have returned it after getting the data I needed, but that wouldn't be honest now, would it? Now if it had cost me 50 bucks or more..... :-)

Not sure about this yet.
I got this to upload old photo files from 3.5 floppy discs. I have a MacBook Pro M1. The first floppy was read easily however it had old document files on it. Subsequent discs with Kodak photo files from 1999 were not even recognized. I am uncertain if it is the drive or the floppies that are at issue. Hence the 3 stars until I figure it out. Once figured out I will rerate the drive.

Works well with my MacBook
Used it to read a bunch of old floppy disks on my MacBook and it worked well. I saw the reviews saying it would sometimes just stop working, I'm guessing in those cases it wasn't getting enough power. It should probably be connected directly to the computer or a powered hub.
