The Kids of Cattywampus Street

Drolly funny
Thèse stories are funny and silly and sad--like life is. And interesting. They often deal with subject that both children and adults are fascinated by--death and stealing and best friends. And if you get a chance to hear the author read a story or two, it's an amazing expérience. Cattywampus is a street you'l want to visit again and again.

Funny, offbeat kids -- like the ones you know in real life (with a touch of magic)
My kids LOVED reading aloud The Kids of Cattywampus Street and meeting all of the residents of this quirky, magical neighborhood. Each story in the book features a different character and we talked about them all as if they were family. The relatable themes and situations led to great conversations, too. We will treasure this one for a long time.

Kids loved it!
Our kids are 7 (girl) and 6 (boy). This is one of the first really big chapter books that we read together and they loved it. The chapters each highlight a different kid on Cattywampus Street which made it an ideal book for us to split into multiple nights of reading. It was very engaging and the text was perfect practice reading for our first grader. As soon as we finished they asked if there were more adventures of the Cattywampus Kid Crew (our nickname) to read about! That seems like a pretty terrific review to me as a parent!

My kiddo loves this book!
Definitely has a bunch of subjects I can see as being "sensitive" to 6 and 7 year olds, but I had no gripes and neither did my daughter! She says it's her favorite book ever! Definitely recommend this one to your young readers!!

Not One of My Favorites
It was an interesting book but touched on topics that were not appreciated at bedtime, such as family deaths.
