Pharmacology and Physiology in Anesthetic Practice

Preparing for the ECVAA exams. Bought this second hand as my original had got lost and I was lost without it.Great service from the seller.

I would give it 1-star had the Physiology section not been as good as it is. However, the Pharmacology section is extremely out-dated. In fact, most citations come from the late 1980s, early 90s. For a book published in 2005, that is unacceptable.... especially in a content area that evolves so quickly. I find it hard to believe that this information was even up-to-date in 2005.I find myself starting to read a chapter, such as the antibiotics chapter, and stopping after just one page due to the inaccurate information they are presenting. For learning pharmacology, anesthesia or non anesthesia-related, I would stick to other, more accurate books: Goodman & Gilman's, Miller's Anesthesia.In terms of Physiology, this book does an excellent job. However, this book intends to cover both topics. Unfortunately, it only gets half the job done.

excellent txt and a necessity for subject mastery. The older editions are great and for the price of the older one definitely worth the price

This is a great resource for anesthesia providers. I recommend it whether it's a required text or just something you might want to have in your library.
