A big hit in our house!
When I got this delivered I was shocked at how big it was, it definately gives off a “main present” vibe due to the size of it in the box! I’ve added a photo of it in the packaging for reference.Inside you get the rescue pup, ours is a Pomeranian which is a soft toy rather than one that does things like flip etc. The bonus to that is that it doesn’t need batteries which is a big plus in my book! You also get the plastic backpack which folds out into the “grooming salon” so you can put the toy on it and spin it round during its “groom”. Then there’s various accessories; donut toy, blanket, mirror, comb, food bowl, a hair bow, ice cream barrettes, snack bag, collar, adoption certificate and name tag. The last two of those are customisable which is a nice touch so they can name the dog themselves and pretend they’ve adopted it.In play it’s been a huge hit so we’re really pleased with it. My only constructive criticism is I would have preferred it not to have been designed as a backpack. Firstly just because the backpack straps could be a strangulation risk and secondly because it’s plastic if it you did take it out and about it would probably get broken fairly quickly as it’s not as forgiving as material backpacks!Overall though we really enjoy playing this so would happily recommend! I’d say it’s ideal for age 3 - 7 years.

Nice idea but a little worried about the backpack.
The box this turns up in is pretty big & open at the front. It's going to take more than one sheet of wrapping paper to wrap this if you plan on giving it as a gift. It's about 47cm wide, nearly 40cm high including the handle & just over 20cm deep.It definitely looks like a big present. As the backpack is displayed open you can reach into the sides & touch the 'dog' (It looks more like a cat to me) before you've even unwrapped it.Once removed from the box, you can fold the backpack closed & carry it on your back. It's made of hard plastic which I think might be prone to cracking if it is dropped onto hard surfaces frequently so while it does look sturdy & substantial I'm not sure how long that would remain true unless you have a more careful sort of child. The red edged windows on the sides are just holes so this is not really weatherproof & any small things stored in the same compartment as the dog could be lost.At the bottom there are 2 compartments which can be closed & things wouldn't be able to fall out.The backpack is sized to fit any of the other Rescue Tales Babies.Inside it (under the dog when it arrives) is a turntable which you can sit the dog on to groom it.There are clips on the back wall to store the hair clips, mirror & combAlong with the backpack & the dog, you get 3 plastic hair clips (a red bow & 2 icecream clips) which can be used on the dog or by your child. The dog is pretty short haired for a grooming toy with fur about 10-15mm long.It has a red collar with a star on it fixed around it's neck which cannot be removed. The star is attached to the dogs body (it feels glued on)There is also a comb for grooming, a Snacky Snacks dog food box, a dog food bowl filled with dog food, a doughnut dog toy, a velcro collar, a mirror & a 'towel' These all fit in the base of the backpack (the comb can be clipped onto the main compartments back wall. For a little one who likes to play animal care, this present has a lot of potential for hours of play.It contains all the tools to care for your little pet. While the backpack idea seems great, I am not convinced it wouldn't get damaged if carried about.I also think if you fell backwards with this on that it would hurt - or if it smacked into the face of another little one behind them.It doesn't have sharp edges, but it is a hard plastic box you would have strapped to your childs back. For this reason it has lost a star.

Wearable backpack
First thing you notice is how big it is. Comes really well presented in an open front box, you can see exactly what you're getting. The backpack is fully opened up, you can even reach in and stroke the little dog. Colourful and engaging. The pomeranian is center stage, ready to be cared for. You get a carry backpack to keep her in, this can also be worn with its adjustable straps. Turn the backpack into your own grooming salon with the removable mirror and rotating stand. It comes with its own blanket, collar, donut toy, food and food bowl. Theres a comb to brush the dog and clips to style her. The bag is quite sturdy and full opens up, both sides open and the main bit lifts up. All the accessories can be contained in the side compartments and the clip and mirror can be clipped on the back wall. The dog is a good size and soft to touch with its fluffy fur. The body is all soft too, perfect to give cuddles and look after. It's big blue eyes are securely attatched in place. It's nice to have a toy which doesn't require batteries, just children's imaginations to play. It would have been a little better if it had slightly longer fur for the clips to fit in better and comb properly, no real issue. It's a great player, perfect for role play, expressing themselves and enjoying their own pet to care and look after. It looks and feels of excellent quality. Another great product from the little tikes range.
