A fresh modern take on a romance with Punjabi/Indian style twists.
I randomly came across 'Jasmin the Unexpected' and I thought it would be a run-of-the-mill story but what I found was my perfect romance. Captivated from the get-go, I devoured this book as quickly as I could. I loved Jasmine, our main female protagonist, I related to her on so many levels, in her personality, loyalty to her family, her views, some of her experiences as a fellow brown girl. There are few South-Asian characters as strong female leads in Romance (This is slowly changing).I swooned over Will, his kind-hearted, warm nature and their sizzling chemistry. The writing is witty, refreshing and charismatic. Whilst being a light-hearted romance it also deals with sensitive topics, showcasing the characters trauma, and their subsequent growth. I just wished for a little more steam between the two characters, to if anything add a bit more to their relationship, but that does come down to personal preference; the balance is fine as it is.I could go on for hours about how much I loved this book, I can't wait to dive into Priya, Gurpreet and the others' stories 😄

An Indian Bridget Jone's type book 😊
Struggled at first due to the use of Indian conversation in the text. If it had continued I wouldnt have persevered with the book. Glad I did, enjoyed the storyline light and very chic lit genre. Didn't enjoy the explicit sections but thats a personal choice. Would recommend this especially for readers who may feel that their culture is underrepresented.

I love, love ❤️
I received a free copy of this book through Voracious Readers in exchange for an honest review.I don’t usually read romance novels, but when I do, I am a sucker for them. I devoured this book really quickly, because I was instantly hooked to the humour and light-heartedness of the characters. The development of the romantic elements of this novel are quick paced but I loved it nonetheless.I especially loved the blossoming friendship between Jasmine and Rhett, I think we all long to have a special friend that we can be ourselves around. Kaur’s writing is easy to follow and highly enjoyable, I am a big fan of her passion to put females/ people of colour at the forefront of romance novels, and am excited to read the other books she has written. This book does discuss some hard hitting topics but it is handled carefully and beautifully.

Enjoyable. Feel good
Given this as a free read by author I hadn't read before. I don't want to write one of the reviews that tells you half the story as that drives me nuts. So I will tell you it was a different, fun read. Loved the main characters also like hearing different points of view in the novel. It hit briefly on some touchy subjects but handled them well.Sort of felt the very last bit was rushed would have liked an epilogue .Would I recommend it yes. Would I read another one by this author definitely.

Feel good book
I was gifted this free by the author.I enjoyed the book, it was an easy read, but some unexpected plot twists. I felt the ending was rushed and would have liked much more about the ongoing journey of the main characters. This is the first book I've read by this author.

Fun Easy Read
I haven’t picked up a book in ages, but I decided I’d start with this one. This book was so easy to get in to. The writing didn’t feel like it was trying too hard. Jasmin’s narration felt real, like she was just a person talking to me. I’m not Punjabi, but the culture felt good. The characters also felt likable unless they were supposed to be unlikable. Truly a great book and I’m so excited to read the rest of them in this series.

Page turner
Soothing romance whose main character is a Punjabi young woman managing career prospects and disappointments, and the novelties of an unexpected love story. Moreover, the book is about friendship and self knowledge. The story tells us how being open to experience can change the perspective we have about ourselves. Entertaining and full of good thoughts and reflections.

Funny quick read!!
So good! Fresh and funny quick read, loved seeing Jasmin's life get rocked (wink) and how she learns from it that being happy is more important then having a strick plan for her future. Can't wait to see how her friends life go in the other books!!

The most witty heroine ever!
This was such a fun read, the story kept me hooked. Characters well written and totally believable.I would love to read more books from the author and get immersed in their worlds, as this was unexpectedly wonderful to read.Just a bit of editing to remove all the spell and grammatical errors would make it wonderful just cause it’s my pet peeve.

Lighthearted, fun romance
This quick read is a great, fun read. I loved the humour and the banter, and especially loved our protagonist's girl gang and her friendship with the main love interest's brother. This book also only had two main sex scenes, so would suit those readers who want a little bit of smut but not overdone. The book really struck the right balance between subverting the tired, old romance tropes with fresh new takes without going too far (like some other books that seem to shove it in the readers face that 'this is not like other romance books').I found this book to be refreshing and modern, but familiar in that it still has some of the great elements of romance books. The book centers on a Punjabi protagonist who thinks for herself and has a great circle of supportive family and friends, an inter-racial relationship, and a genuine friendship between a male and female character while also including some well-loved romance tropes such as miscommunication / misunderstandings, billionaires, insta-love, HEA.I do wish that the book was a little bit longer so we had a bit more time to feel like our two MCs got to know one another better, it was a liiiiitle bit too insta-love for me when I felt like they hadn't had too many conversations that weren't about the central plot (i.e. her job, his brother). A few more 'get-to-know-you' type scenes/conversations spread out over time would have made the connection between the two MCs a bit more believable. I'd also would have liked to see a bit more from some of the side characters too, such as Mona and Inder.Overall, a great read and I'm keen to read more by this author.
