These bulbs are great if you're a technical user, but non-technical users should look elsewhere.
If you're a non-technical person looking for a well-polished, reliable, and easy to use product, these aren't what you want. The bulbs are phenomenal, but not at that. These bulbs are squarely aimed at somewhat technical, do-it-yourself hobbyists. Because they use basic UDP for communication and have a published API, they integrate very well with home automation systems. They have *especially* good support for open source and free software home automation like OpenHAB and HomeAssistant. If that's you, buy these. They're great. If you just want something you can unbox, set up the app, and run with, the experience is horrible. The app required to control these things is one of the worst rated apps I've ever seen on the Google Play store, and for good reason. Linguistic, cultural, and design differences between Chinese and English speaking users mean apps are designed differently, and it's clear that at no point in the design of the app was it handed to a native English speaker. The app uses left-right swipes to change panels rather than the hamburger menus more common in English apps, with no visual queues that there are additional panes. There's no functionality to rename wifi base controllers, so if you have more than one, you need to remember MAC addresses. Base controllers and bulbs are controlled in different tabs, and even though the wifi controller can manage different zones, it's not actually *part* of the zone and won't apply the lighting settings to the controller. The remotes sold for these devices don't have all of the functionality of the bulbs themselves, specifically the ability to set them to white.Every problem I mentioned goes away if you ignore their app and their remote. When integrated into a home automation system or managed with some custom code, you get very precise control over every aspect of these lights.Color quality is quite good across the entire spectrum, and the greens these produce are more true and vibrant than even Philips Hue bulbs. I haven't experienced any flickering or twinkling which sometimes happens with LEDs, and certainly not to the point where they cause headaches or eye fatigue. The white isn't the best I've seen in RGBW LEDs, but it's not bad. I ordered a dozen more, and feel quite comfortable swapping out my traditional white LEDs and using them as a primary light source.Five stars, highly recommended but *only* if you're the target audience.

Raspberry Red, Lemon Yellow, Orange Orange!!!
We purchased two of Milight Wifi LED RGBW bulbs (and the companion remote) for our front gate just to see how they would work. Our gate is about 75' from the house and I can control the lights from that distance with the remote, but my understanding is that it will reach even further. I have to say, I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE LIGHTS and the fact that I can simply change them on a whim! We live in the Pacific NW where it is dark and gray for months and months, so we use color to help lift our spirits during this time of year. We are really into exterior decorating with lights for EVERY holidays (including Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, St Patrick’s, and Easter), so we had originally purchased about 6 different colors of LED bulbs (not cheap) and were changing out the gate light bulbs about every other month - and it's not that easy of a task. Now that we have these bulbs, I can switch colors every night if I want to - and sometimes I do just to freak out the neighbors - in fact, Easter's coming so I pretty much change them every evening to represent the different colored eggs! I just stand at my front window and swirl my finger around the color wheel until I find a color shade that suits me that night. The bulbs are brighter than I thought they'd be with intense colors (which is great!). Dialing in on the orange and purple colors is a bit more difficult than some of the other colors. For example, when I'm using the remote's color wheel, the color might start with a bright fuchsia then go right over to blue without stopping on purple, or from green to yellow to red without really stopping on orange. Perhaps, I just need to practice a little. But heck, at this point I'm so happy to not have to change out the bulbs every month, I'm good. I might feel a little differently, however, when Halloween comes around if I still can't dial in on the orange. :) Overall, we are very pleased with the purchase of both the remote and bulbs and would highly recommend them for anyone wanting to add some color in their life. We haven't tried programming the zones yet, but that's coming. We live on a lake and we are already planning on replacing the lights in the cabana and the boat dock next. I can't wait. Like I always say, "Life is short - live it in color!" The whole thing kind of reminds of the Trix Cereal commercial from the 70's - you remember the commercial, right? The Silly Rabbit would announce, "Raspberry Red, Lemon Yellow, Orange Orange." Note: This review is repeated for the Milight 2.4G 4-Zone LED Wireless RF RGBW Controller RemoteUpdate May 2017 - OK, with practice, I'ved been able to pretty dial in every color - including orange and purple, so bring on Halloween, we're ready!

Great for DIY Home Automation
These bulbs are really excellent paired with a Milight Wifi box (or two, if you have a large house) and Home Assistant. They are more plasticy than the original LimitlessLED bulbs and some other, larger, MiLight bulbs. I actually prefer these because they are smaller, and more easily fit into some 3D printed shades I made.Where the solid plastic connects to the clear plastic part the light shines through, they are sometimes a little loose. I installed these outside under some eaves, so I pressed a smear of clear silicone around that seam to make sure they are sealed up to keep out moisture. So far, so good.I would recommend these, and went ahead and bought a handful of spares in case I want to expand or something happens to some of the bulbs I have now. Definitely the best value individual smart bulbs I've found so far. What some of the other users have indicated: that these are not super user friendly and really only good for the DIY hobbyist, is very true.I also would not recommend you use these as individual bulbs throughout your house. Use smart switches instead!
