Looks and feels very nice. Decent amount of protection. Slightly unstable in desk display mode.
Just got mine a few minutes ago. This is the first tablet cover I've owned for the first tablet I've owned. Initial impressions...The fit between the kindle and the cover is very good. The kindle snaps into place with a sensible amount of force, and it's held firmly just around the top and bottom edges of the unit, so (a) there's no concern about it coming out by accident and (b) the case doesn't cover any of the bezel, so it doesn't make the screen seem any smaller than it really is. All the openings in the kindle, e.g. camera, speakers etc, remain properly exposed. In the closed position the look and feel of the cover are really great. The fabric on the front and back and the leather around the spine both feel nice in my hand. It looks like it will provide a decent amount of protection, particularly to front and back and to the left/right edges when held it in the vertical position. The top and bottom edges on the other hand are not completely enclosed. The cover doesn't add any significant bulk to the kindle, and though I guess it adds some weight (9oz against the kindle's 13oz) it doesn't make the unit feel unduly heavy. In the open position with the kindle in the horizontal display position on my desk, the cover is not as stiff or stable as I thought it might have been. There are two shallow tabs on the lower edge of the part of the case holding the sloping screen that engage with any of three grooves in the soft interior lining of the part that's lying flat on the desk. The grooves are relatively wide, so the tabs just sit in them - they don't click in, so you're partly relying on the friction of the surface to ensure that the thing stays where it's put. Indeed the thing will stand quite happily even with the tabs outside the grooves. The other thing to note about the cover in this position is that the part of it sitting behind the kindle and holding it up in position is what becomes the soft spine when the thing is closed. So it's not at all rigid and if you tap on the kindle, particularly on icons at the top of the screen, it can wobble a little bit. Finally, I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the cover in the open reading position, with the front folded back behind the kindle. Because of the softness of the spine, the cover tends to move a bit in the hand. It's maybe not quite as comfortable an experience as I thought it might have been, but then again the only comparison I have is with holding the kindle on its own.All in all a pretty decent cover, though perhaps a touch expensive for what it is.

This case was an excellent product both from a design perspective and quality
Previously I had owned a Fire HD for which I had purchased the Belkin case. This case was an excellent product both from a design perspective and quality. My Fire HD was stolen and I replaced it with the Fire HDX. I needed a case and didn't care for the Amazon product's functionality so I immediately considered the Belkin for my new HDX.The case has the characteristic quality of the prior product but the design is really not very good. The most lacking feature is the mechanism for holding the opened case in a particular position. It barely functions and only then if the product is carefully held in an accommodating position. The groves for capturing the bottom edge of the HDX are simply too small to be effective. Any movement results in the HDX slipping from it's respective grove and collapsing. Very frustrating. This problem is made worse by the flexible nature of the folding elements of the design. They lack the stiffness observed in the prior product and this flimsy construction permits any movement to significantly effect the holding mechanism's ability to keep the HDX in position.Strange as this sounds I like the basic product but I am searching for a replacement which functions more effectively. Using this device is simply frustrating since one must continually reposition the HDX. You may ask that possibly this may be a defective product? No, I do not believe so since it's obvious this design would and does function as found.Bottom line... had I had an opportunity to try this before buying it, I would not have purchased the HDX Belkin case.

Fits like a glove
I had purchased another cover for my new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" that said it fit. It did not. So I went on line and found this beautiful cover that looked great and promised to have all the holes where they were supposed to be. I'm so glad I bought this, because it fits in all the right places. The buttons are easy to reach and the camera is completely accessible. I would warn folks that are looking for a cover for a Kindle or anything else to make sure you can easily reach everything before you buy it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's a little awkward when reading in the portrait position. It does great in landscape position. And the color is great! You usually don't see this color in a cover. I'm tired of black and brown, so I jumped at this. I like the elastic band because it keeps it closed when I cart it around. I would not hesitate to recommend this item.

Belkin Cover for Kindle Fire HDX 8.9
I have owned and loved Belkin Kindle covers when I had my Kindle Fire HD 8.9, in leather, so when I upgraded to the HDX I went to the Belkin website right away looking for a cover, although it said Chambray I just thought I'd give it a try anyway, I didn't like the idea and feel of fabric as a book cover and it can be easily soiled, leather can be kept clean easier. So, I'll keep looking for the leather version for the HDX 8.9. I like the make of Belkin covers, it's easy for looking at movies etc. with the three grooves for adjusting the Kindle, hope you make some leather covers for the HDX 8.9 soon

Belkin Case for Kindle Fire 8.9"
Heavy and cumbersome, and not all that practical. This is a product I would not recommend. At least the kindle fits snugly in the case, It does provide some protection.

Belkin Chambray case for kindle fire HDX
Product arrive promptly but a nightmare to open,Difficult to set up - nails will suffer extreme damage.More suited to a male as they might find it easier to manage.Design rather poor as left has side is bulky and not attractive.Returned mine so if lady reads this, get your brother or partner to put it together.

great addition for my kindle
Great addition for my kindle. Only downside: you can't use it to make kindle stand up portrait style only landscape but haven't missed that feature yet.

Five Stars
Its ok but not very sturdy for holding up to watch films

Its (fit) for purpose.
Would be better with a Velcro fastener instead of the elastic strap.Other than that it is OK. Adjustable rest works well
