As a carpenter that is getting up there in years, I find it increasingly hard to read the markings on the typical silver speed square. The contrast with these squares makes it much easier to read (and thus leads to fewer errors). Both of mine arrived in perfect condition. Well made and none of the errors that others have complained about. The only thing I would ever have an issue with is if the markings wear off over time, but that's not an issue yet.
