Honeybee: Poems & Short Prose

Great mix of bee fact, memoir and poetry. Nye moved so easily among them, never felt forced or like some part didn't belong or didn't belong in that sequence. I knew of her as a poe, so my first time through the book, I read all the poems and skipped over the rest. But occasionally my eye would catch on a phrase, so by the end of my first read-through, I had decided I needed to go back and read the whole thing, and it was a rich and truly satisfying experience.

She writes with great sensitivity of the world around her. I feel the sentiment in her words and her work moves me. I feel her sadness about what is happening in the world. Yet I think she has a vision of hope in spite of the chaos and brutality in the world around us. She has deep insight into the significance of the ordinary everyday events happening around us and is able to use language in a beautiful way to help make sense of these events.

Excellent. A Joy to read

This may be my favorite work yet from Naomi Shihab Nye. Funny enough to make me laugh out loud at moments, serious enough to bring me to tears. I love the combination of poetry and short prose. This is Nye at her finest.Her work is sometimes my own voice and always the voice I want to be.

Everyone should have this beautiful little book. Naomi Shihab Nye's vision of the world is always unique, hopeful and inspiring. This is no exception!

You need this book. You need to read Naomi Shihab Nye. I am telling you. There is some awesome stuff in here!

Synchronicity is when you are with a company called BuzZen and your favorite poet writes a book called Honeybee. It arrived today and I have spent the day savoring it."Watch us humans as we enter our rooms,remove our shoes and watches, and stretch out on the bed with a single good book. It's the honey of the mind time. Light shines through our little jars."

As good as Nye usually is, with an ability to demonstrate beauty in her written to help readers see beauty in their world. Very good read!
