Beautiful pen, lovely packaging; makes a great gift - to yourself!
This is a beautiful pen. Feels balanced in the hand and writes smoothly. The pen arrives with one nib already installed, so do not do what I did and break off the ink uptake tube while fumbling with the contents of the package. Nibs are not sold separately and the only way to get another nib to replace the one I damaged is to purchase another set. This actually isn't such a bad thing, since now I will have both nibs available without having to switch them from the barrel. It takes a while to encourage the ink to prime through the nib, but once that starts, it writes beautifully. Don't let other people use your fountain pen. It's your pen and someone else's touch or heavy hand may damage or compromise the nib. Once you start writing with it, it is YOURS and yours alone. Multiple users of one fine pen is not recommended. A fine writing instrument is like your favorite pair of shoes; it molds to you and becomes yours and isn't "right" for anyone else but you.

Still not as bold as I'd like it, but I'm still playing with the pen ...
Received my pen today. Still not as bold as I'd like it, but I'm still playing with the pen to find the "sweet spot" angle. I have yet to try the calligraphy nib, however.A couple of things...1. The blue and black ink cartridges...some of our eyesights are not as great at they were 10-20 years ago. It would have been even better if the blue and black inks could be differentiated easier. Either a different size (like how the reds are smaller) for the blue ink...or some sort of mark on the cartridge itself for the blues.2. The ink cartridge converter would have made an excellent addition, to complete the "set". I'd have even traded the ink cartridges, or a majority of the ink cartridges, for a converter. That way, users could choose between ease of ink cartridge or the satisfaction of filling our own ink for our pen. Nothing beats the satisfaction of having an inkwell and filling our pens on our own!The wooden case is a beautiful touch and I love how the tiny magnets keep the case closed and secure. No chance of the case opening up in my purse or bookbag. The gift card and little journal booklet were nice, though the purchase was for me, so the card was unnecessary. The journal booklet is great for practicing writing, to get a feel for the pen and its tricks.Overall, I am very satisfied with the set.

Inktronics Reviews a Pen on Amazon
The pen is as described. I have had it over a week now but I have a lot of experience reviewing fountain pens. I have reviewed over 100 fountain pens on my blog. As a long time fountain pen user, the calligraphy nib was not what I was expecting. It is an Asian Fude nib. Still very usable. Also, I was not expecting it to come with a notebook, a mini greeting card, and polishing cloth that is apparently used to clean the nib of ink. The black cartridges were not what I am used to seeing and the size is larger than international short cartridges but a thinner diameter. There are clear instructions and they do warn that the pen may not start writing immediately after a cartridge is installed. This is normal since it does take some time for the capillary action to draw the ink through the feed and finally to the nib. I suggest rinsing the nib section under warm water before you install the cartridge. Some say to use distilled water, but I use regular tap water and have not had issues. Let it air dry in a cup filled with tissue so it will draw the water out of the nib. The instructions say to leave the pen sitting with the nib down for twenty minutes if this happens. I did and it still did not write. I typically put a cartridge in and leave it overnight. I did this and it wrote straight away in the morning. If you leave the pen sitting nib up, it will dry out. The instruction do say that leaving it for a week will dry it out. You can get the ink flowing again by simply removing the cartridge and dipping the nib in the cartridge ink a few times. It gets the ink flowing again. I prefer this method over the suggested dipping in water. Dipping will cause the ink to become diluted. The nib is an IPG (Iridium Point Germany) nib that is typically found on a lot of Asian pens like Jinhao or Baoer. I would rate it at a western medium point (Asian broad) that is free flowing once the ink gets going. I don't usually care for packaging but the pen comes in a nice wooden "coffin" that has a magnetic closure. The slip cap is a bit tight so be careful when you pull it off, but to be fair, most Asian pens are this way. The cap finial has a stylus that I did not try. I prefer using my finger on touch screens. The section (they call it "the connector" in the instructions), while metal, is not slippery because it has some rings engraved in it to give you grip. There is a small step going from the section to the barrel. If you hold your pen higher up, you will feel the step but it is not uncomfortable. It is just a bit sharp. The clip is tight and will hold on a shirt pocket fine. It may be a two handed operation to get it clipped. The chasing on the metal adds some interest but might be a little blingy on an all metal pen. That is my own personal opinion. You can post the cap but it gets slightly back heavy and it posts securely. If you are looking for a first fountain pen, the Pilot Metropolitan might be better to get your feet wet but you will not get all the extras that come with this pen. I hope this review is useful. - Inktronics

A classic pen!
I received an initial delivery with everything "but the actual pen and calligraphy nib". After the merchant requested a feedback. I explained and was sent another one free of charge immediately . So now I have the actual pen with the nib and two extra inkwells. Once I began to use it I was taken back to 2nd grade when I was first introduced to the fountain pen. It is as I remembered clear, precise and permanent. "I love it"!These pens aren't used much these days anymore. But they are a classic and great for contracts. Signatures cannot be altered once signed. The only issue that I have is, you will have refill from the inkwell. When I was a 2nd grader in catholic school. We used ink cartridges, which I think can be used. Not sure though. All in all, great pen to have. The merchant was very helpful and accountable. After the disappointment of not seeing the pen in the box initially. Thank you!
