The Homestead Planner & Logbook: Record All Your Important Information for Easy, One-Stop Reference Flexibound – .csv, November 1, 2016

I finally got this logbook after long watching it and hoping for more reviews--the description and existing reviews didn't really give me an idea if the book would help or not.I have recognized for some time that I need to start keeping logs of what we grow and how well things grow. When we plant. When we have frosts. How much we feed the animals--so how much does our meat cost? I need to know when to expect my apples to blossom. I'm horrible at keeping a journal or diary, so I was hoping this logbook would help.I do think this logbook will help with many things. It has lots of pages of spreadsheets to collect information on many aspects of a farm/homestead. All the spreadsheets are probably useful to somebody. I'll have to start using the book to know how well the logs will actually work--like monthly egg collection records, livestock feed records, etc.The biggest issue I have with the logbook is that there is no orchard section. This is honestly the homestead feature I need to the most help with keeping a log. I know I need to document the varieties, age, production, bloom times, when pests are observed, any soil amendments, etc. I cannot imagine I'm the rare "homesteader" with some fruit trees. I also wish there was an exotic weed section, so I can plan on when and how I to need to do something about cheatgrass, knapweed, etc. I dunno, maybe I can adjust a "crop" table to a "weed" table and show control methods and dates (Update: I did find a pest table). Apologies if there are these sections and I have missed them!I think this logbook would be better if I had gotten it when we first moved to our property, but it will still be useful. I think it would also work as well, or maybe even better, for somebody with a larger farm or homestead--lots of pages will never be used for my small 3.5 acre farm.The chapter listing is:1. This is a very useful book but the first thing I had to do was make copies of pages to stick in it. I mean if I only grew the few crop entries it has we would starve.Same with animals. I love the idea of this book and it would be great for the first year when you need to learn all the stuff. PLEASE MAKE ONE NOT FOR NEWBIES, LESS ADVICE MORE ACTUAL DATA PAGES

Great for those of us new to homesteading and want to stay organized! Each section has an explanation of what to document, why, and how. This goes well with the backyard homestead books if you’re looking for others to add to your collection. Took away a star due to the binding of this log being a little flimsy and appears to already be sort of coming apart. Still worth the purchase though!

Absolutely love this planner! My fiancé and I are beginning to run our own homestead/ranch and this has been so helpful in organizing our logs and records! Highly recommend! Very easy to use and well worth the money!

It covered more than I ever thought of.

Too little information on too broad a range of subjects. If you use any of the record keeping materials you’ll just have to copy them and put in a separate book because they don’t have enough lines to provide space for much record keeping. A real homesteader would never use this book in any meaningful way.

Good information great place to start on what you need to track.

We love this book and anticipate a lot of help from it documenting our garden years.

A lot of useful information. Could be more in-depth in some areas. With that said many sections have information that I hadn't even thought. A bonus would be to have digitized versions of all the record keeping forms to access and update for easier input and viewing anywhere anytime.
