definitely wool, smells a bit sheep-y in use, but works well
This is just as thick as it was supposed to be, and is a great quality wool pressing mat. It does the job.Being a natural product, it does have a slight odor when hit with heat and steam-- as described by the seller. The odor isn't strong or too unpleasant, and it does not seem to transfer to anything I am ironing. Wool is a great choice for this kind of mat-- it is stable under high heat, holds heat and stem to get a good crisp press. I use it with a tailors clapper for great results. The package also included a neon green silicone iron rest. It's a nice idea, but not helpful for me. My iron turns off when left horizontal (in the "use" position) for more than a minute. If I want to keep it on, I have to set it up vertically on its base (and even then, it turns off after a few minutes). To use this iron rest, I'd need an iron without all the safety features... I suppose someone has one, and would appreciate this. It's not a selling feature for me, and I'm still figuring out what to use it for. Perhaps a kitchen hot pad, haha!

Great starter mat
I am brand new to quilting and wanted a tiny mat for ironing the little pieces. This mat is fairly small and not a good choice if you are working with square bigger than the dimensions. I am making a log cabin pattern so this mat fits the smaller pieces well. I love that it came with a silicone mat to set your iron on.This is much easier than walking to the ironing board or trying to fit an ironing board in my sewing space.

Exactly as described, and my dog is grateful!
Wanted to be able to iron quickly when sewing, etc, and it’s difficult to set up my ironing board because first I have to wriggle it out of a tight closet, and then I must spend 20 minutes reassuring my rescue dog, who is apparently in mortal fear of ironing boards (I hate to think what might have happened to her in a prior life). This wool pressing mat works very well to decrease ironing time by reflecting heat to the underside of the fabric, so that wrinkles disappear almost immediately. No odd odor. Sturdy, and although small, it is an adequate size to use for ironing before sewing, as well as for collars and other small clothing items that occasionally need touch up after coming out of dryer that I would otherwise be spritzing with water and “finger pressing”and then have to hang to dry. Good value for the money.

Great size
I love the size and quality of this mat. I can take it to class, my son's or on a trip. The silicone pad is a plus.

Works as intended, smells kinda like a farm
This was just what I needed for a quick and easy place to press my seams and make bias tape. I don’t have to lug out my big bulky ironing board anymore for a quick job and that makes me happy. I have noticed with extended use, especially if steam ironing, the wool really smells fresh off the sheep. My kids and I have decided it smells like the petting zoo. But if that doesn’t bother you then I’m sure you’ll be happy with it too.

Great Quality and Love the Bonus Items
Perfect wool ironing pad. When I ordered, I didn’t realize there’s a small pad as a bonus, and having the silicone iron pad in there was cool as well.I had a smaller wool pad that I used on a wooden tv tray, but my daughter appropriated it. I needed to replace and once I figured out what table I was going to use, ordered this larger size. Love it!

Good size for travel & a small iron
I liked the size. It fits into my machine trolly and is easy to use next to my machine at sewing classes
