Coldplay rocks
While different from their previous music, The Music of the Spheres is uplifting and joyful.

Mixed bag Mid-life crisis in desperate need of relevance
I don't usually write reviews but I must....I have been a fan since the beginning and am quite familiar with Coldplay's ups and downs and ventures into genius brilliance vs. their need to be relevant. This album is the epitome of that duality and struggle. The good songs are great especially the 10+ minute finale. I imagine this is the kind of thing true Coldplay fans want to hear and not 'My Universe'. I gotta say the BTS collab is truly one of the most hideous things I've heard in many years from any act, much less one I love. It's pure tripe and reeks of desperation for a hit. It reeks of marketing strategy not art and sits squarely in the middle of an otherwise decent album. Bityful (or whatever it's called) is just as awful. Like WTAF are they thinking? How come no one in the band or production crew said, "Chris, this really sucks and is a really bad idea"? The duet with Selena Gomez is tolerable but pretty much cookie cutter Coldplay with a couple of extra slices of stinky cheesy to make me want to skip it. These three aforementioned pieces create a confusing mixed-bag of an album that feels like a mid-life crisis. I felt similar ways about a lot of 'Head Full of Dreams', but this is worse. 'Everyday Life' was a brilliant piece of work and really made me love the band again fully as I did when XYZ & Viva arrived. The bottom line is, Coldplay doesn't need to remain 'relevant' or 'hip' at this point. So many artists (many of my favorites....U2, Prince, Duran) have fallen prey to this in their careers and like them, Coldplay is best when they just 'do what they do'.My God, did I mentioned that BTS song is the absolute worst? Ug...WHY!?!

Just the Coldplay album I wanted and needed.
Unlike so many reviewers who would be better off just crying quietly while listening to Parachutes, I think this album is cohesive, beautifully written and performed and feels as good as their highest points on Head Full of Dreams and Viva la Vida and Mylo Xyloto. Have listened straight through several times already and like it more and more each time.

Vibrant and uplifting
This album is very well produced. Great mixes of guitar and synths. So many space references from Coldplay all these years--glad they pulled off a great space-themed album.
