Astell&Kern KANN Alpha Portable High Resolution Audio Player, Urbanely Blue

Studied the higher end DAP market for sometime before finally deciding on and purchasing the KANN Alpha. It met all of my needs. Admittedly it is pricey, but it delivers beyond expectations. The build quality is amazing. The battery life is more than sufficient to go all day. The interface is very easy to use and with the AK CD-Ripper it works flawlessly at converting a CD library into a digital FLAC based library. Lastly and most exceptionally it sounds amazing!!!! Bottom line----worth every penny

Menus are great to use. Finish is a little slippery so ordered case for it. Great player

Sound is impeccable

I have only had it for a couple of days, but I am impressed! After I connected it to WiFi, it updated itself. Meanwhile, I loaded up a San Disc 200 GB micro-sd card with a nice selection of music. I have Sennheiser HD 650 headphones. As I cranked the volume up, I got a warning about playing too load, but the sound was barely audible. After some fiddling, I disabled that warning. I found that that I need volume level 115 or so to drive my headphones. But it still has plenty of headroom, 130 was uncomfortably loud and I don't have any idea how high it can go. The other difficulty was that accidentally touching my finger to the touch screen had effects I didn't want. But I soon learned to shut off the screen as I set it down.Build quality is second to none. It looks and feels like it will last forever. And the sound is wonderful! This is very highly resolving system, and a few recordings are embarrassed as their imperfections become apparent. So you want to listen to great recordings. And with great recordings, some of which I have listened to for decades, I am hearing details that I never heard before. I love it!
