Very Happy we purchased this, it worked great for an 11x12 bedroom.
More than just a fan, but less than an ice cold air conditioner. Cooled down the bedroom to make it more comfortable for sleeping. We used this when the humidity was under 50% and the temps above 80 degrees -- with the ice packs inserted. I would like to get another set of the ice packs to swap out and re-freeze every 4 hours. We used it as a fan only, with daytime temps in the 80's, because we couldn't open windows (wildfire smoke). Used as an oscillating fan, it seemed cooler than our regular fans that we had been using before we got this unit. There is no venting or installation needed, which is a plus. The only negative: The drawer opens easy, but will fall out if pulled out to far. Needs to be closed very slowing to keep the water from sloshing around.

What I've learned so far
Re: 1-star reviews: I suspect the owners didn't realize you have to turn on Cool mode. Read on.What I've learned so far:You have to press the snowflake button in order to make the unit use the cold water. Otherwise, it's just a fan. It will produce a weak flow of cool air. For a small room, you will probably notice a difference. There's a sensor that dips into the tank, so extra ice packs floating in the water may block it. Ice cubes are fine. The low-water alarm is very loud and cannot be turned off when the unit is in cool mode. This makes it inappropriate for use while sleeping. There's a sleep mode (crescent moon symbol) that will reduce the fan speed after an hour, so there's a chance you can wake up before it runs low, but it should really just let you sleep until it runs out, then go into fan mode. The alarm is why I'm giving this 3 stars. I bought this to cool my study while I'm working, and it's great for that. But I should be able to use it while sleeping and I can't because of the alarm.

Far worse than a regular fan
I should have listened to the other 1 star reviews because it doesn't work at all! The ice packs don't make the air any cooler and my regular fan is stronger, so what is the point? Biggest waste of money ever since it is nonreturnable.
