Cats enjoy/Low carb/4stars+ read why below!
Purchased the Turkey Pate. This is a low carb food. (Cats need low carb) Carbs=obese/diabetic cats. The major bulk of protein comes from Turkey & dried egg. Egg is a complete protein in which all other proteins are measured against. We don’t know the quality of the egg, but we generally consider egg a bonus ingredient. A trivial amount of protein comes from flaxseed. Cats don’t need flaxseed or ANY plant matter but ground flax does provide some omegas. It’s unfortunate to see sweet potato as the 3d ingredient as cats are obligate carnivorous & don’t need any plants or potatoes. That being said this is still a low carbohydrate food. Healthy cats should have 10% carbs on a dry matter basis & diabetic cats 5% carbs & under. This food comes in low & is fine for both. It’s possible the flax may help some cats prone to constipation. I would like to see some type of named fish oil but unfortunately there is none at all. I’m not too concerned with this containing the sweet potato. I would not purchase a food with multiple plants & starches but it’s hard to find a food without at least one. We as pet nutritionist consider ANY plants in cat food a filler unlike with dogs. Cats are total carnivores yet dogs are omnivores & do eat some plants. I’m happy to see both instead of just water. Broth, specifically turkey broth does add some extra nutrition unlike water alone. Carrageenan is a controversial ingredient. I’m pretty comfortable with it in some of the foods I feed since I rotate my cats foods & my cats eat about 50% of their meals without it. Science has yet to 100% prove its a bad ingredient but I’d rather be on the safe side & buy foods without it. It’s more for us humans than the cat. It helps the food hold its pate shape. Cats could care less. My cats don’t mind a runny food. This food does contain too many unneeded thickeners, carrageenan, guar gum & locust gum. I’d prefer a food only have just one or better yet none…again those ingredients are more for us than the cat. That all being said this is a perfectly acceptable low carb cat food. I’ve seen less expensive food with better ingredients & more expensive foods with worse. For about a $1 a can the price is on par with Fancy Feast & yet fortunately there is no wheat gluten, by products or grains. Where does this food really shine? It contains no fish at all & fish has been linked to thyroid issues, vitamin absorption problems & cats getting addicted to the fishy taste resulting in cats refusing all other proteins that would not contain the heavy metals that many larger fish often have. It is a fantastic food for cats that have protein allergies since it only has turkey & turkey broth. I highly recommend the turkey as a limited ingredient food as well. The same can’t be said for the other flavors. I prefer foods for all ages & this is a maintenance food for adult cats but not kittens. It would be fine for seniors too just not kittens. My cats absolutely love the turkey pate. Be weary of the other flavors containing fish & more plant matter. This food has a one year 100% money back guarantee. I had about 8 cans arrive damaged & Amazon stood behind the product no questions asked & no return necessary. I will be feeding this in my cats low carb food rotation. 4 stars plus! Cats don’t like it
My cats are used to Fancy Feast and I thought this was similar but my cats won’t eat it. I got a refund.

Not their favorite
I don't know why, but my cats aren't into this one! I've smelled it, it's not bad, barely smells.. maybe that's it! They liked the salmon so for variety got the chicken.. I have to mix it in with other food. But at least the old cat I bought this for will eat it sometimes. He has dental issues and I was needing a really smooth pate.. happy to say this one is, but it's thick. I have to add more liquid to it than normal so he can drink it. I also appreciate that there's no pieces of bone, because he would choke on that!

Don't be a sheep
I don't know the motivations behind the many UNVERIFIED 1 star reviews citing carrageenan as being potentially toxic. Maybe it is competitors. But absolutely none of it is true. None! I hope people will look into it themselves, but to highlight just how ridiculous these claims are, here's a few carrageenan facts.1. It is not on California Prop 65 list (that should be enough)2. The National Organic Program (NOP) added carrageenan to its National List of additives allowed to be included in organic foods in 2003 and it remains on the list.3. In a 2015 review, the Joint Expert Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and World Health Organization on Food Additives released a technical report in 2015 on the use of carrageenan in infant formula and found that the additive was "not of concern" in infant formula.4. It is simply a binder and thickener made from seaweed5. It is all around you. Some common uses are Desserts, ice cream, cream desserts, milkshakes, yogurts, salad dressings, sweetened condensed milks, also used in Sauces: to increase viscosity and Beer: as a clarifier to remove haze-causing proteins, Pâtés and processed meats (e.g., ham): and in many foods as a substitute for fat.6. In 2018, carrageenan was deemed non-toxic in the medical journal Frontiers in PediatricsThe origins of the carrageenan toxicity claims are hard to trace, but has been completely debunked ad nauseam. There is no veracity or substance. The specious claims made by these unverified reviewers have the same credibility as proclamations that the election was rigged and Biden is illegitimate. Rational people can detest the results of the election but they don't question that the process was fair.I'm pretty surprised that Amazon allows those 'reviews' to stand. I hope that people take 2 minutes to judge for themselves with a quick Google search. The ingredients in this food are a dream come true compared to most commercial cat food you feed your furry buddy. If they like it, you would be hard pressed to find much better. Why the 1 star? I have 2 non-finiky cats that are 100% wet food fed. One took a lick and turned to me screaming to be fed, i.e. he was NOT going to take a second lick, much less a bite. His sister smelled his breath then smelled the bowl and exited stage left with nary a lick. On paper they should love it because the salmon is a soft pate that provides the gooey consistency of gravy based food without it being a soupy mess. On paper I wanted to support the product because it is an Amazon brand and I trust Amazon with 95% of my shopping and am quite spoiled by having everything brought to me at this stage in life. But this is not like Presto paper towels that I can pretend are as good as Bounty so keep reordering them. As we all know, our feline overlords really don't give a crap about corporate loyalty if their dinner won't pass the smell test.

Chicken pate!
For some obscure reason, it has become super hard to find chicken pate in the grocery store for our cat. It seems like an easy request. However, the store has everything *but* this format. I don't want a mixed box with beef and fish. I also don't want plastic packaging.I read other reviews and decided to give this brand a try. The ingredient panel looked safe. When I served it up to our cat, she accepted it without complaint and will come remind me when it's time to eat.I saw someone asking about the brown specks they see when mixing with water. I also mix with water to help prevent urine crystals. The brown specks are flax seed (which is listed on the ingredient panel). They add fiber to the diet, helped with pooping. Unless the cat has a flax seed allergy, I don't think that's causing their cat's vomiting.

My cats did not like this one.
My cats did not like this product. Their pate of this kind seems EXTRA whipped compared to their other pate and none of my cats would eat it.

Turkey is good. Cat approved.
My cat -- who's allergic to chicken -- seems ok so far with the turkey pate. He eats it up! The ingredients look good and the price is a bit lower than other brands for this quality of cat food.
