Wish I would have ordered it sooner.
First let me start this review by praising the customer support of the seller YIQIE.I had some difficulty installing the controller do to an upgrade with the metal clip that did not match the installation video I watched.I sent an email to the seller at night after hours, expecting a reply the next day. To my surprise I got a response with in an hour along with pictures showing how to install the new metal clip. Now on to the product review.First sound quality, is top notch even with an open face half helmet with no speaker cut outs. I had to super glue the speakers in place as as work around. This is not to reflect the product, it's just to demonstrate my helmet is not designed for speakers. The sound compared to my Uclear which I have installed in my full face helmet is far superior. Deeper bass overall richer sound at half the volume. This is not a complaint against the Uclear as I find it a great product. I just noticed I could hear the music or business meeting clearly and more importantly hear highway sounds using half the volume as I would with the Uclear, which in order to hear it at highway speed, would drown out highway sounds. But that could be more to do with the uclear full face helmet install vs half helmet SCS ETC S-9 install. The microphone wow. Using the boom mic, (again open face half helmet) I joined a Zoom business meeting and everyone in attendance was in disbelief that I was on a motorcycle, until I turned on the cell phone cam to prove it. Listening to the recording I am very impressed, no clipping no static or wind noise.I gave it two stars for installation not because of the issue with the metal clip and not because its hard to install. I gave it two stars for the following design reasons.Battery Life, riding for several hours with no recharge leaving it on when off the bike at various stops and had no problem. But I only used it one day and looks like it will be the last day of the season. :(1. Speakers are hard wired to the base.2. The controller is separate from the base which connects speakers, microphone, and even external source.Having speakers, microphone, etc... connected to a separate piece and especially the speakers being hard wired in to me is just a weird design and prone to un necessary failure. For instance I'm sure the first thing to go is going to be the speakers either do to normal wear and tear or because of the wire breaking do to use or abuse. This is the most common failure of any wired speakers, the wire gets ripped out. If that happens then you will have to replace the device instead of just the speakers. Second the controller connecting to another device just means more wear and tear and as the connectors will get worn out.Over all for under under $80 dollars top notch product great customer support from seller.Hopefully it will hold up next season.

Needs some improvements
I really like this product. It's easy to program and works very good. The only problem with it is that the mounting bracket sucks. It keeps falling off. I even installed the 2 sided tape that came with it and it still falls off. I finally took a piece of 3M two sides tape and mounted the unit without the mount. It has been installed for about a week with no issues. It would be nice if the speakers were not hardwired. I have a very nice set of speakers that came with my helment that I can't use with this unit. The ones that cane with this is OK but just don't have the sound quality. Like I mentioned earlier. This is a very good working unit. I will buy another set so we all can link together and use the intercom. I this has a very good signal up to about 1/2 mile. Don't know how much further it will go. I have only used it on about an hour ride with 1 other person.

GREAT VALUE, EASY INSTALL
Prior to purchasing this headset I have a pair of over the ear headphones that I would slide my helmet over but this headset is much better. It’s easy to install and easy to use.The unit comes nicely packaged in box with several small compartments securing each component needed to assemble and install the headset. The instructions, although minimal and without much detail, are super easy to follow. In total it took me about 15 mins to install the unit. With it being my first ever helmet installation I think that’s pretty good. The sound from this is nice. It’s clear and can be loud enough to hear both music and voice calls while traveling at high speeds. The microphone works well and picks up very minimal surrounding sounds. It’s hard for callers to tell when I’m riding because the microphone doesn’t pick up all that extra sound. The controls are easily accessible and simple to use while riding or at a red light.Overall I’m impressed with this headset and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great value buy.

Almost good except...
I've been using these for over two months. I've been happy with them except for a couple of design issues. I'd like to use my in-ear headset but there's no way to use a different headset that the ones that come with this. It's hard-wired into the unit can cannot be changed without cutting and soldering.I was happy with them anyway until yesterday. I had been riding for over a week without charging them so the battery got low. Towards the end of my ride I get a very loud message "YOUR BATTERY LEVELS ARE BELOW 10 PERCENT. RECHARGE IMMEDIATELY!!!". it scared the $&#$ out of me! OK i thought, that's annoying but I've only got 10 to 15 minutes of riding left so I should be good. No problem except about once every minute for the rest of my ride the headset breaks in again with the SAME LOUD MESSAGE! OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!.Listen, I appreciate the warning. The battery is below 10%. Fine. Remind me again at 5% or just tell me you have to shut off. COMMANDING ME TO RECHARGE IMMEDIATELY OVER AND OVER MAKES ME WANT TO SHOUT OVER AND OVER $#@ YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY!!!Seriously, what kind of Nazi scum thought that commanding you over and over to recharge was a good idea? Please fix it! If you're like most Americans you won't appreciate that kind of behavior and should probably purchase a different headset.

Wonderful device!!!
We have 2 others and needed another so everyone can have one this works perfectly.- the speaker fits perfectly in the holes ( meant for speakers) inside the helmet- they are recessed and padded so that they don't hurt your ears when you wear your helmet- you can play music, pair it to your cell phone, so that you can take calls and make calls, and of course speak to each other. - there is a voice message when the power is less than 10% and a light flashes- you can also check what percentage of power you have left- no batteries required!! You charge the system like a cell phone- you can also hook it up to a walkie talkie- the microphone fits neatly inside the chin bar of the helmet so that it is not sticking outside your helmet and so that it also does not pick up wind noise as you are traveling- The microphone installation is neat there's lots of adjustment on the microphone to place it properly in front of your mouth- the main unit is neat, compact, small and unobtrusive, streamline, lightweight, on the side of your helmet- the sound is crystal clear, volume is adjustable,- you can be up to 500 meters away and the voice is still as clear as if you were beside each other. So they could also be used as a walkie talkie- installation was easy, charging the unit was fastso much fun to have a new toy to play with lol

looks great, easy to setup
The riding season is over for me this year, so I could not test this on the road, but I did set it up to test on my helmet, and I have pictures of that (rather than just pictures of the components just lying there).Installation is like any other receiver/transmitter. Detach the foam padding in your helmet and tuck in the wires.SCSETC provides sticky patches of material to stick inside your helmet so that the earpieces can cling to. They even provide a double sided tape if you want to stick the transmitter to your helmet rather than use the clip. I used one of the sticky patches to protect the outside of my helmet from getting scratched by the holding clip.Connecting to my phone was easy; make sure you read the instructions to know how to pair, how to turn on the device and how to go through the options.I tested the headset with helmet on and called my wife. She said she hears me better than when I use my phone directly (p30 pro), so the mic works really well. The device also looks great. See how it looks on my helmet. For the price, this is a very good headset and if you're not looking on spending a crazy amount to start with, this is a great option as it can pair with several other devices.

Long-term review
This is my fourth S-9 headset and we've been using one for at least 10 months now, so consider this a long-term review. While I use this headset exclusively for communicating with another rider, it can be paired with your phone to listen to music, use voice commands, and make phone calls.Included in the box are quite a few accessories for mounting this to your helmet including double-sided tape and a clip mount.I use this on a hybrid motorcycle helmet and have tried both the adhesive mount and clip without any issues.Routing the wires through my helmet did require that some of the helmet padding be temporarily removed, but it's like that with any headset installation. This is a small headset and the button placement is good because the buttons are spaced out and can be easily engaged with gloves on.We've had these paid with other SCSETC headsets as well as with other brands and the results have been excellent with no dropout during regular, line-of-sight communication. The audio quality is better than expected, but most impressive is the noise suppression of wind noise, which it handles very well. I've never had an issue hearing my other rider, and they've never had an issue hearing me.One thing that is less than ideal is the learning curve with knowing how to pair this headset. To be fair, it's often a process regardless of the brand. Because there are so few buttons, but quite a few features, it's expected that many of the features will require two-button presses (simultaneously) to get working.Overall, I think this is a great unit for most people. The universal compatibility makes it ideal for group rides with mixed headsets.

Love the overall look and design, however two's a pair and three (or more) can get messy
First off, I'm really a fan of the look/style of these particular headsets. And I don't just like it, I love it, it goes really well with a matching blue/black/white helmet. Pairing these two headsets was simple since they already come in a set, but unfortunately integrating with other headsets got a little messy. They don't always necessarily work as nice or as well as they could. We all use the same headset and unfortunately these didn't integrate so well. It's a shame but not a pity since I can still use this when I go snowboarding in the winter (attached to the helmet) or cycling in the summer. It's nice to stay in communication actively since slopes and trails are large and spaced apart, it's also not always convenient to pickup your phone or make a call with all your gear on or while riding.I think I'll keep the extra one as spare or to lend to a buddy the next time we go boarding/biking together.Solid 4 to 4.5 STARS.
