Fascinations Metal Earth B-17 Flying Fortress 3D Metal Model Kit

Enjoyed building this like other Metal Earth models. Truly iconic aircraft. Like others models, it pays to read ahead and modify steps accordingly, it can make assembling the engines and front fuselage/nose assembly easier. For example, I found that shaping the top of the engine nacelles and test fit them to the top of the wings before rolling the main nacelle sections, it makes it easier to attach them later.

It turned out ok; the main body did not completely join because the drawing does not tell you how to connect the 2 pieces. Frankly, you need a lot of patience and experience with drawings because your dealing with very tiny pieces. The drawing can be deceiving and some times they are wrong; I have already contacted the company to fix the Titanic drawing because it was backwards.But, they are COOL! Here are some of my pieces

This was moderately hard but do-able. Hoping the wings don't break from attaching it to the body. I manage to not break anything for this. There are little parts and fragile pieces that will break. This tests your patience. Don't get frustrated and stop doing it and come back to it later, if needed. It was worth seeing the finished product at the end. The hard part was to round it off so I used a pencil first and tweaked it around with pliers. It worked for me.

The level of patience required is intense. I have experience with the plastic "glue and paint" models and this took me probably 10 hours or so to put together and you definitely need a small pair of pliers, snips and a very small flat head screw driver. The individual pieces are engraved beautifully. That said it will probably still end up coming out poorly. I'm an engineer and there are a plethora of moments when I was putting this together where I could help but think I was fighting an uphill battle with the Fascinations designer, rather than enjoying my time with the model. The way the tail half connects to the front fuselage is an area of truly horrific design, and producing a quality connection is nearly impossible with out bailing on the instructions and simply using some spare material to span the gap and super glue. The H-tail is also very hard to keep from drooping, especially as you attempt to reshape the tail to get it to attach to the front. A lot of the difficulty in this model is artificial, in that its a result of poor design choices in the method of assembly and cutout design, as opposed to the actual challenge of assembling the model.I would highly recommend against getting this for anyone under the age of 15 and even then, your mileage is going to very. If this is what they consider "easy", I'm terrified to see what a harder model entails.If you've done a bunch of these particular models in the past, you may enjoy it. However, as someone coming from another segment of the model community, I could not help but leave disappointing, and inevitably ended up tossing the model as I could not obtain a quality that I was satisfied with prior to the metal shearing out..

I liked the parts list on the sheet most seen all the time. Good kit....needs a few more small tools and a magnifier hood..

Buon modello nonostante le limitazioni dovute a questo tipo di modellini che rendono di più con figure più squadrate. Assemblaggio abbastanza semplice ad incastri, una volta finito il modellino misura all'incirca 11x15x5cm
